Hello there, I have found a low competition keyword in Google adwords and the local monthly searches is above 20,000,000.

Would this be a niche worth going for? Since it's low competition and high monthly searches (according to Google ad words)

Or am I missing something here?

Thank you.

Common mistake:)

Thanks for the swift reply, it's still a niche I am interested in guess I need to do more research, it's late at night here and I been working all day, that's my excuse for my brain dead moment there lol!

thanks again

You should read the BSB keyword research guide :)

Or mine... you will be ok.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I do have another thread on this forum where I am asking for help but unfortunately I did not get many responses ^^. If I was to make a website and found a decent keyword, I would not want to be selling products or be an affiliate, I would prefer something which would get me an active forum for example and just place banners on the website or some other form of PPC (i'm banned from adsense :() or some other website which is filled with quality content and information about my niche and of course a section with articles etc.

I know at the moment I am just saying all of this but my first step is choosing my niche and keyword research and then I will go from there.

Zelth, read the keyword research articles (iamnre/BTB) find a good keyword and go from there.

If you need more help post a link here to your other thread as well.

Dude you need to select for exact searches.
In Adwords KW tool. Under "Advanced Options and Filters" select "Exact".
Then see the search count. Also competition you see there is adwords advertiser's competition its not how easily you can rank for a particular KW.
This thread will help you about KW research.

IMO that should be stickied in every SEO and money making related section.

I just thanked you at your link above brother. That is great info on kw research.
So my first 3 niche sites are bringing in pennies/day which sucks but its' fine as it was a learning process in the last quarter of 2011.

Now I'm starting to get my head more around doing niche sites involving amazon products as well as adsense so my question is: What would be the lowest number of local searches you'd go for for any particular kw?

For example, using your criteria in your kw tutorial, I have a kw that has 58 total pages on Goog, it has only 3600 inurl results, about 7700 intitle and combined, very few good seo results.
But it only gets about 600 local and 1000 global searches.

CPC is about $4.70 and it sells for hundreds of dollars on amazon.

Worth taking a shot at?
