    Hi there,

I know i don't do much posting yet, but i'm only starting with this kind of stuff, so i have not that much to contribute, but hopefully in the future :)

I did a bit of keyword research, and found one that i *think* is good. But i'm not completely sure so i would like to have an honest opinion of you.

(If this kw is totally crap pls just tell me without laughing, it's my first kw research)

Sorry that i blacked out the actual keyword. As said i don't know if it's any good and if it's actually good, i want to try to get my first niche site up and earn some money :)

    Screenshot from google keyword tool:

(I'm not allowed to post links or images yet, so please have a look here:

    hxxp:// img254.imageshack. us/img254/9059/keyword1.png

I did further search on this:

    A Google search on:

    "keyword"

gives me 21,800,000 results. EMD is not on the first page

    inurl:"keyword"

gives me 7,310 results. again EMD is not on first page

    intitle:"keyword"

gives me 38,800 results. Again EMD not on first page.

    intitle:"keyword inurl:"keyword"

gives me 5,370 results. Again EMD not on first page.

Okay, now what confuses me is:

keyword.com, keyword.info, keyword.org is taken, redirected to a site which ranks on first page (but not with they keyword.com/info/org url)

keywordonline.com/info/org is NOT taken (is this still good as a domain?)

as you see on the screenshot above, the "local search Trends" doesn't look that good (or am i reading that wrong?)

I don't know, but when looking on the monthly searches and the CPC (?10.31 is about 14.13USD) it should be pretty good?

Please help me out on here :)

Apart from these factors, a complete analysis of on-site/off-site SEO factors of the top 10 sites ranking for this keyword is a must because you are going to compete against these sites. You can either analyze the same manually or by using some software like Traffic Travis and Market Samurai. When you do it using software, I suggest you to check the same manually once again as the software are not always accurate and it lacks human intelligence.

EMD is not really mandatory to rank for a keyword.

Use Go0gle Insights or G0ogle Trends to check the keyword trend. Check the search trend for the last three years. Considering the search volume in that screen shot, I would say you can expect decent amount of search during off season too.

The adwords competition is shown as low so just check whether the keyword have any commercial value. If you are gonna monetize with adsense, go to "keywordspy" and check the bidding history for this keyword and make sure there is enough advertisers bidding for this keyword regularly. Sometimes if the root keyword have low adwords competition, the long tail keywords may have high adwords competition. In that case, it is worth targeting. If you are gonna monetize the same with other options like Amazon or CPA offers, you don't have to worry about adwords competition, but make sure you have right product to promote in case of Amazon and good offers to promote in case of CPA.

I totally agree! But having the keyword in the domain name is just one piece of a big puzzle.

Thanks for the answers. With "keywordspy" do you mean the tool that comes up when i search for that phrase on google?

When using google insights over 3 years the graph doesn't look that bad, a bit up and down.

    vicky00 i don't really get your post....

Whether its a good keyword or not, depends on the competition on page 1, and how much effort you want to put into it cracking it.

For example, if the site that keyword .TLD has been redirected to is ranking well and has strong SEO, then I would not bother.

Well Google still likes to rank the 100% match up at the top as the exact match domain name is a major aspect of how focused the site is. It's a pretty big part of the puzzle as you can rank exact domain matches on top.

Also as the OP said he would take KEYWORDonline.com don't. Well for personal taste it does look nice but keep the word count down so KEYWORDz.com or KEYWORDa.com would be better.

What is another cool thing is try putting the letter "e" before the keyword of the domain and see if it is taken. If not its a freaking goldmine!

27,100 local monthly searches and a CPC over $10... yeah, I'm sure that there are a lot of other people chasing that keyword. You have not provided any significant information on the competition, like how many links are pointing to the pages that are ranking on the first page of Google. Still, with that volume and CPC, I'd bet that the competition is going to be strong.

Important: Look at google insights. It looks like the keyword is losing popularity in a big way.
