I'm just now starting to use Short in my marketing strategy to grow my main channel and the subscribers and viewers of my long form videos. I have a few questions surrounding this, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Do shorts activity effect the overall channel? If someone subscribes while looking at my Shorts, does that mean they're only subscribing to my Shorts when they're published, or are they subscribing to my main channel?
  2. I have 2 options when it comes to using Shorts to marketing my main videos. What is the best strategy to use Shorts to get more people to go and watch videos? For my long form videos, the first 30-60 seconds of the video are a summary of what the upcoming video is about. Would it be best to take this portion of the long form version of the video out, use it at a Short to introduce/tease the long form version of the video, and then link the main video in the description or comments? Or should I leave that summary in the long form video and either re-use the same part as a Short or introduce/tease the content using different video files for the Short?
  3. What is best to promote the long form videos in my Shorts, in the description or as a comment?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for any suggests or feedback on any of the points above :)

1. Yes, they subscribe to the channel

2. Leave the summary in the long video and also use as the short

3. Yes leave it in the comments or the description, which ever works best for you...

Yoy should make separate channels for shorts and long form videos. This will result in better branding.

Shorts are useful in gaining subscribers.
Upload long videos to promote long videos. YT itself promotes your long videos.
What do you mean upload long videos to promote long videos?

Separate channels? Is that what most people do? Never heard of that. I thought the strategy was to use shorts to gain subscribers for your main YT channel, which can come quicker and easier from shorts.
