need advice from E-Commerce owners

Guys i found the niche for E-commerce. Found supplier[not Chinese product)))], i know one guy making good money on it - but he is doing it OFFline.

BUT online this niche doesn't seem so popular.

it has only ~exact 3100 searches locally for main KW
Seems it's too small to build ecommerce site around?

3100 searches locally, Market Samurai shows max 340 visitors/day for Broad Match Type. Average conversion 1% = max 3 sales/day

depending on the item i can make $10-$40 profit. average $25
It's $75/day

did i calculate/estimate it right?

would like to hear ideas of the guys who run Ecommerce sites. It's fashion/jewelry niche...

cons: 1. the product is not manufacture in US/not Chinese either
pros: 1. there is medium competition, not so easy to rank
2. drop shipping isn't available

Was thinking creating brand around this niche. What you think?

Well... I have no idea if that calculation is right but here is what I am wondering. What are other keywords and what would all of them total together combine for total traffic if you did a larger campaign than just ONE keyword... and then... is it worth it for $75 a day?

The conversion rate will also depend on the products too. Some industries/niches will convert at around 1%, some less, and some quite a bit more.

And as above, collate a list of all keywords and rank for them. These can be keywords for the particular products, keywords for the product types, and also keywords for the particluar niche.

Examples if you were doing a light bulb store:

Flourescent Bayonet Lightbulb (product keyword)
Bayonet lightbulb (product type keyword)
Light bulbs (general keyword)

You need to say what kind of profit you'd consider a success, or would make it worthwhile.

Of course if you have no competition online on a 3k exact, with $10 to $40 profit each, that could be good money. Is it really $10 to $40 profit or do you need to sink a fortune into maintaining stock? Do you have to hire someone to ship or do you have to do it yourself? Are you right next door to a place where you can ship or is it going to be a pain in the neck?

3k exact searches a month, assuming you're #1 ... assuming a 41% click through (scratch that if local search pops a ton of results up or other distractions) you are looking at a possible 40 visitors a day. Depending on how motivated your buyers are, you'll be looking at .5% to 2% sales. So we're talking at most 12 of these are going to be sold a month on average, i.e. don't go stocking up on 1000 of them.

So you're looking at $120 to $400 a month ... is it worth it? Might not be if you have to handle every part of the stocking and shipping, customer service, returns, maintaining stock and pre-investing to get a good deal on importing.

I have 3 Jewellery sites, as you can see from spelling UK. Business in the industry is down 80% as this is not a purchase when money is tight, old stuff can last forever if you want it too.

Almost ALL of my suppliers have gone bust in last few years so i am well versed in finding the best.

KW are really poor and you need to be careful as traffic never seems to be as high as they suggest and competition from crap bay is huge,

No body returns an item to Hong Kong so they sell real shit but whilst that is not you it puts people off buying.

Here in UK mail costs are now huge as so many people claim not to get it and you are left in shit or using signed for, big problem is with theft so high many mail companies will not take jewellery except with higher costs.

Cost of box very important as the display is biggest seller so you really need to get this right.

Off line works becuase a lot of "cheap" fashion jewelelry is impluse buy and they only do this when they can get hands on it.

All that being said, search downloads and you will find templates which you can use with zen cart, which is free, and effectively get e commerce site for next to nothing, people on FIVVER will configure and set up for you.

Dn100 yeah man i understand that, i was just talking about MAIN kw. Summing all PRODUCT CATEGORY KWs - gonna be around 15K exact searches TOTAL.

phpbuild agreed, but when the dropshipping is not available usually there is less competition. The niche is not too big, but the competition is less than other MORE MONEY niches as well.

I have a website that sells 'real products' (not actual eCommerce site though). my main keyword only gets 1000 local exact searches every month, but that doesnt matter, as its totally relevent to the products im selling. Its not like i rely on adsense clicks to make money, so its a different kettle of fish really with ecommerce.

But I also SEO for over 20 related keywords, and also do a small amount of work on over 80 long tails that bring traffic.

yup, i decided to go for it anyway. Will write back later how it goes. And how ACCURATE where my calculations/approximations...

Alba could you pm me perchance? i don't have enough posts to pm yet...but i'm thinking of opening an ecommerce site...i've bought myself a couple of domain names but that's about it so far, as a fellow uk user i was hoping you might have some advice in terms of hosting etc.
