I will soon be starting a project that will have all the content in Spanish and target local areas in the south western US. Is there anything special I need to do for keywords or backlinks? Should I work to get backlinks on Spanish websites or will English backlinks work?

Any advice for ranking a non native language site in Google would be appreciated.

As your title says you cannot hold the US visitors much on your spanish niche no matter how good SEO you do.
they just bounce back.

Backlinks only won't help. Focus local SEO and mix with what's trending. Jump into the bandwagon instead trying to create your own. What's your niche?

shift the data centre kinda helps , I does read before . Your host service provider surely default locate your hosting centre near your country
but you can request your host provider shift the data centre to USA . What it means?

since want to target US audiences, your site loading will be ok for them since your site is locate at US side.
well if you aim local spainish than stick to the default data centre near your country.

I don't know is a myth or what, I does check around , a lot post the same tips

Not looking to reveal the exact niche but it's a local professional service.

Not looking to hold the typical US visitor. I'm looking to capture the Spanish speaking population that is quite large in certain regions of the US. My target audience won't bounce.
