Need advice for low competition keyword

Hi BHW, this is the situation:

I recently found a keyword with 4.000 searches/month and it has fairly low competition because the product is worth ~10$. The third website in the serps is the only competitor. My position is around ~20 for 4 weeks now. The thing is his website has only 3500 words of content overall. Every of his page ranges from 100 to 600 words.

So i thought it would be easy to compete and wrote 1x 1800 words article which contained all the information of his 4 main articles and more. Then I created Q&A with 800 words and ten reviews with approximately 150 words, still a lot more then he has.

My competitor doesnt use pbns or web 2.0s and I don't want as well because the niche is really easy and I want to gain experience.

I have build some backlinks and copied some of my competitors. Most of the backlinks go to my domain root, as this is the site with the main content. Some to the Q&A article.

My website is 43 days old.

Questions:
1. Is it better to split the long article into many smallers? Example: Make 4x 450 instead of one 1800 words article. Seems to work for my competitor.

2. Most of my backlinks aren't indexed, is this maybe a factor? How can I solve this?

3. Did I forget something, which is important? How would you continue?

Make some relevant videos and post it there and do some tier2 link building in your web 2.0 links...

Hi thank you for your reply, but I don't want to use web 2.0s and videos would be overkill. Total time invested in this website is maybe 15h. I think this website could earn 40-50$. What interests me more is why my competitor is on the front page and i am not.

He doesnt have videos or other fancy shit. Just a normal website with no black hat link buildung tactics used.

Age of the domain is one of the most important factor.With newest update it will become more important maybe in top 5 factors for ranking web site.
What age is competitors website and how old is your website?
This will give you the answer.

His website is 18 Months old, mine is 43 days. But is this only because of the domain age??

Maybe he has PBNs but he blocked access to moz/ahrefs/... robots

He doesn't use PBNs. I know some other sites of him where I rule him with my sites without even thinking about a PBN. Also a PBN wouldn't be profitable for this kind of product price and competition.

If it works for him should for you too but check the difference in platform/Density/Ratio etc

Work on building the authority of your site and they will get indexed with time.
