    Hi,

I recently started experimenting with Wordpress and designed a nice looking website promoting web design services.

Wordpress is so easy to use so after reading on posts on these forums I was thinking is it right to sell websites created with Wordpress. Anyone could really spend a couple hours learning how to use it and design a professional site.

Earlier, someone commented on my post on my Facebook fan page basically saying how easy it is and how a website can be designed in a few minutes and here I am trying to charge a couple hundred quid to do it.

    So would it work?

It all depends on how you market it. If you make the deal enticing, create a good product and get the word out there people are going to bite. But make note that the web design niche is quite saturated with highly talented people so you're going to have to take a unique approach.

But what if potential or current clients find out was created very easily on Wordpress? Won't they feel like they were ripped off?

As long as it's a good looking website with all the needs for the client available, yuor safe. Wordpress is a great tool and your facebook friend is a douche. As others already stated though, the regular web design market is saturated. I have a degree in web design and i prefer venturing into internet marketing more atm.

Depending on what type of clients you target, a Wordpress site might fit their needs perfectly. Many small business websites are either too narrow (1 page brochure-style) or too large ($5,000+ custom job) in scope, when they could really benefit from you working with them to develop content for a Wordpress site. Since Wordpress sites help keep YOUR expenses down, the clients can benefit from your lower costs.

Yes, it is entirely possible. Wordpress is easy to customize, easy for new users to get the hang of, and can come out looking quite professional. There is a market for pretty much everything, especially web design. If you learn to customize Wordpress sites through PHP and CSS, you can become quite good at it, much like myself. Good luck, man.

You can do whatever you want if you really want it!

    Read that twice.
