Need a Video Screen Capture Program -- What is the best one?

Replay video capture works pretty well. The free version is pretty limited, though they have a paid version for about $40.

BSR Screen recorder works too well for me. It is flawless and the file size is pretty small.... U can get it in torrent ;-)

You can get it http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/downloads-video-production/541520-get-b-s-r-screen-recorder-very-nice.html :).

I'm using FRAPS. It captures desktop and games. Best so far.

I will too recommend Camtasia. It's the best for screen capturing non gaming stuff. For gaming stuff, Fraps is the leader.

What is the best program to capture video of my desktop while I am working on it?
I would need this for video tutorials I am going to be creating for a website.

Also, how much will this cost as I am pretty broke at the moment :)

Thanks!

I've never had any problems with blueberry flashback. They have a free version of it too :)

I know about Jing. It was serving me really well. Also, you have video capture in Ezvid which is quite decent. :)

Also have a look at Webinaria - it is very simple to set up and easy to use. I personally use this software.

What is it?

CamStudio is able to record all screen and audio activity on your computer and create industry-standard AVI video files and using its built-in SWF Producer can turn those AVIs into lean, mean, bandwidth-friendly Streaming Flash videos (SWFs)

Here are just a few ways you can use this software:

  • You can use it to create demonstration videos for any software program
  • Or how about creating a set of videos answering your most frequently asked questions?
  • You can create video tutorials for school or college class
  • You can use it to record a recurring problem with your computer so you can show technical support people
  • You can use it to create video-based information products you can sell
  • You can even use it to record new tricks and techniques you discover on your favorite software program, before you forget them

Oh yeah - it's FREE LOL! :thumb:

And so on so on so forth and blah, blah, blah .....

I use vlc
Code:
vlc screen:// :screen-fps=30.000000 :screen-caching=300 --screen-mouse-image="C:\mouse_pointer.png" :sout=#transcode{vcodec=h264,vb=0,scale=0,acodec=mp4a,ab=128,channels=2,samplerate=44100}:file{dst=c:\\movies\\stream.mp4} :no-sout-rtp-sap :no-sout-standard-sap :ttl=1 :sout-keep

Start screen recording, open up audacity. Trim the beginning part of video/audio appropriately.
Good to go, and for free.

Paid software is obviously superior, but don't doubt the power of this method.

--screen-mouse-image is optional, but required if you want the mouse pointer to show. Just find a mouse cursor image. I just screenshot mine...

It's been mentioned before: try camtasia. It has some really nice features: zoom, callouts, special themes .. and so on.
