Need a short domain (not so short)... any suggestions?

It's fairly easy to find a 4 letter domain (or 3 if you don't mind something more abstract) paired with a 2 letter TLD for a total of 6 just through trial and error at a registrar (I like that name.com returns a lot of extensions). If you are ranking this domain in google you need to use a TLD that is generically geo-targetable so that you are limiting yourself. If it's not for SEO then you can use whatever tld you want though some are expensive.

Short + meaningful = Costs a lot
