Need a Programer, and having zero luck!

I have been trying for months now to find someone who could build me a zip code search function on my wordpress site.

I need the visitor to put a zip in and day of the week, and be able to find things in their area.

I have tried putting the task on free lancer, and all I get are bids from india, and they have no idea what they are doing.

Does anyone have any idea how to do this, and would be willing to? or know someone who can?

Do you know where your getting the "things" per area from? if you have an API a zip code checker shouldn't be to hard.
 
I really dont know anything about how to do it, which is why I want to hire someone that can handle everything.

I really have no idea where to start or and I have zero programming experience
 
I can do this for you, if your still looking please pm me further details - URL of site where your going to host the service, what sort of things you want to show people, what area you want to cover etc.

I am also in need of a good programmer & will pay good money for someone that can help me. I need a website builder like Wix, but not flash & with a lot less features. Users would get to choose 3 different templates and use their company logo and a few other pictures to create a 3 page basic business website. The templates would be designed for SEO purposes. Once the website is built it would be sent to admin for approval etc...

If anyone can help with this please let me know.
 
start with the google maps plugins for wordpress. search the plug ins for google-maps (cant post url so you'll have to search,. wont take more than 2 minutes)

there might be something in there that can be tweeked to your needs with a little lateral thinking.

You or the programmer needs to find a source of data to search using the zip code. After you find that source the programmer would use the API or scrape it to get data for your site.

If you spend some time looking for a data source you are more likely to get what you want and make finding a programmer easier.
 
Have you tried the other freelance sites, like "Rent a coder"? Unfortunately a lot of these sites are filled with people looking to make a quick buck. They drive down the rates which discourages people who could actually do quality work from using the site.

I assume that you are providing "things" based on zip code for certain time.

Contact WP plugins creators. Nothing more targeted than that.
