OMG I need a new computer chair, mine is such a POS. Its ripping on the seat, you can feel the metal bars on your ass, there are no arm rest, and the back support goes up to my mid back. Suck balls. Can someone recommend a good chair? I know I can google computer chairs and there are a shit ton of them but I value your guys' opinion more then random strangers.

With you on this one man... Mine is made of shitty vinyl so it basically makes your ass and back sweat, I have to cover it with towels to avoid this. I'd recommend NOT something vinyl or leather.. Need something breathable.

Hmmm... maybe ill get one of those ergonomic mesh ones. they look pretty comfy. I dont like back and ass sweat. lol

One thing I have learned from years in the IT industry is to not scrimp on chairs and monitors. Get the best of either you can possibly afford.

For years I worked on a crappy chair and then when that was totally junked I went out and purchased a nice comfortable leather chair with armrests etc

My posture improved and I no longer had the lingering back issue, simple once you realise it :D

Cheers

Same here man, I got very bad backache because of the crappy chair.

Anyone who works on the computer for long time should get a good quality chair.

I Got a new one, cost less than 200$ here and is Comfortable.

@OP: Buy it from a store near you.

OMG...sat in one of those for the 1st time a few years ago...I almost climaxed! J/K! LOL!

But seriously...I've not seen anything better...Check out ebay and see if you can get a good deal...

New = $800+
Used = $400 (ish)

I got this one (used) for $5 bucks. In a yard sale. :D

Man that Herman Miller AERON looks soooo nice. Whats that thing on the bottom? I have really bad scoliosis and am in my chair for like 12 hours a day. My bad hurts crazy bad through out the day. I have to change positions like every 5 minutes, its very distracting. Im always sitting in odd positions to find out what is the most comfortable. lol.

Aeron... only way to go. It's absolutely incredible. I scored a sweet deal on one from an architect firm selling off a couple on craigslist

got my aeron for $125 by the way. exactly the same one that's in that picture above, but in grey.

you def need to go with something thats ergonomic if you plan on sitting in it for a while a normal office chair sucks ergos the only route if you live sitting down you need and ergo.

I could not agree more, a comfy chair is vital but my chair is the best, it fulfill all my needs. Let me know if you would like the same

I'm assuming you meant to say your "back" hurts crazy bad throughout the day :D.

But yeah that's exactly how I am too. I change positions every few minutes, then my back starts to hurt again, change positions again, and that goes on for the whole day and it's distracting as fuck. I would get so much more work done if I could stay focused and not be thinking about my back the whole time and having to get up and walk around so often.

I tried out one of those exercise ball chairs but I couldn't get comfortable on it at all. Supposedly they are great for your back and for posture, but I couldn't sit on it for too long because it was uncomfortable. It's this one here btw: http://www.amazon.com/Gaiam-Balance...B4NE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1312363148&sr=8-1

So right now I just went back to a regular office chair with armrests on it. Nothing expensive, but it's still not the most comfortable.

If anyone else has a recommendation for a chair that helps with back pain AND is comfortable to sit in, I'd love to hear it.

I've had a few of those chairs over the years...the only thing is, they're not really designed for sitting in over great lengths of time. Last time I picked one up, about a month later (8 hours a day x 5 days a week), the foam in the seat cushion was practically gone and it felt like I was sitting on concrete!
