Need a Morality Check

I want to block bots / people doing f/uf / and inactive users from my account.

My engagement is really low and I feel like IG is sending my content to them and they never see it.

Is it an asshole / douchbag thing to do? One of my followers who found out unfollowed me and said "he doesn't need to be told what to do, he will like whatever he wants" and my friend IRL didn't agree with me either.

I am just trying to recover engagement. I am only blocking people who are following over 999 people + who have NOT liked any of my last 9 photos. That's reasonable right???

I have found out MOST people will follow without liking a photo - which means that you only have once chance for IG to show them your content before IG decides 'never' to show it to them again....

How many accounts? What niches? Followers?

For marketing, Instagram usually works better with a network. Money site. Child site. Other pointers to the accounts. I note that some of the people that do this for a business, to increase followers...never even touch the money site. They just build other accounts to point to the main site.

It should be like split testing advertisements. Have a few accounts and do different things to them and see what works. You have to build your own blueprint depending upon how you monetize.

Two influencer accounts. Art niche. Followers around 15k. Engagement is bad so I am blocking high-risk accounts to save face in front of IG. Bad move?

please delve into more detail on that one... where'd you get this info from?
 
I do the same few times a year, but my parameter is people who didn't engage with my account in 100 days, so the bot scrapes the last 90 days worth of posts for likes and comments and gives me the list of ghost followers, 9 posts is too extreme, I would set it to 30 minimum, assuming you post once a day.

I post way less than once a day, more like 2wice a week ish. So 9 posts comes out to being more like 3 weeks minimum.
I also make sure that I block people who are following over 3k IN ADDITION to the 9 posts thing. So I see your point but I think I am fine.
I really wish I could get Jarvee to beef up the blocking module to have multiple setups.

Its really just my own theory I am testing.

Have you noticed that 90%+ of your new followers will follow without liking a single one of your pics?
That has been the case with me and I find that I do it often as well because Its like 'saving' this for later.
IG also always shows you post from the last person you followed pretty high up in the ranking. But most people tend not to like it because they have already seen them and it feels old to them. So what happens is IG algo thinks that you have bad content and that new follower ends up forgetting about you. Followers who want something from you tend to do this alot. In my niche,, Its very hard to get followers who simply enjoy your content. If you are getting hundreds of these followers per day? Your overall engagement will become shit in a matter of weeks.
 
I understand, but if you're in a small niche you will run out of people to block soon enough. You could only do what you do if you are in a big niche, like fashion, pets or travel.

That has a lot of weight to it... very good theory. I'm sure this is the case actually.... :/
 
You don't need to block them. Just remove them.
 
There was this account that wrote every single person that followed him and didn't like hid last picture he then uploaded a blsck story that tagged everyone with black letters so you couldn't see the names and in big white letters he wrote on the story: Like my latest picture or you are getting a block. If I rmemreme correctly it goes something along those lines it was crazy because he did upload a story of him scrolling through the list (he used Excel and had every follower and how many of his pictures they liked). Disclaimer: he is known for his bitchy character and how straightforward of a guy he is (like Tyler The Creator). I don't remember the account name but it was a pretty good story.

In conclusion, they are your accounts do whatever you want. I personally prefer a account with high engagement rather than a account with ghost followers.
 
First off you mentioned you're posting 2 times a week? C'mon, that's barely even acceptable in the IG growth world. Most folks posts 3-5 times daily!

Inactivity is bad in the eyes of the algorithm, so that could result in lower than optimal engagement. What program are you using to block them? I agree that blocking those who haven't liked the last 9 posts is a bit extreme.
 
Thanks everyone. I have stopped since IG has given me proof that my account is still alive and considered not spam (33% hashtag impressions)
 
To improve engagement you shouldn't be blocking people you should be posting better content so your followers will engage more with your content those follower unfollow accounts will unfollow you soon so it doesn't matter.

Post better content have more engaging captions post everyday don't follow and unfollow or do anything spammy and you'll see your growth come to life.
