Need a little help with SEO

My best advice is to see what is ranking your competitors first. I have seen some niches where the top ranked sites have very few back links, some niches I have seen sites only ranking with a ton of black hat stuff!

Well i'm sure Jaselc's post was great and hopefully just what you were looking for. I as someone that has just really made the switch from I know about this seo thing, to someone that knows enough seo to rank a few niche sites I would like to throw in my 2 cents.

Since you are using a silo site most of the links will go to the homepage but then again even inner page links will throw some juice at the homepage which is great. This depends greatly on how old your site is, and how great the competition is, but this is what I do for my niche sites, and I don't really use silo sites so this probably should take even a little less effort for you.

1. If you are starting with a pretty brand new site, I let it sit until it's around 2 weeks old, then I start building some base links. These base links consist of high quality blog comments (I do mine manually or outsource to someone who will), 10-25 high quality web 2.0's with 1-5 posts per web 2.0 but only 1 post directed at my moneysite. Maybe an article directory or two, but not very many. Throw in a variety of pdf directory links, and maybe a few forum profiles. But I try to get around 100 high quality base backlinks. The anchor texts I use for these posts will be pretty generic ("My website", "click here") and probably 30-40% being your domain/brand name. (Mix it up though: yourdomain.com, www.yourdomain.com, ect)

2. After these I will start throwing in some aged web 2.0's, and some high page authority/domain authority blog posts from my blog network. With these links I will use my exact anchor text. People seem to underestimate the power of these links. I have ranked a site with 50 base links with none going after my keyword after only 4 blog network links which at the time I bought for $10 each since I didn't own my own network at the time.

Brettehl some good info there, your strategy is very solid and is similar to what I have been doing with some of my sites. If you think how a new site would pick up links naturally then try to replicate that, you won't go far wrong!
