I'm selling website templates to auto repair shops.

They edit the templates offline, then upload to a server.

Problem is, free hosting solutions like webs, yola, wordpress, don't allow you to upload templates.

So, I need to have a system where I pay for hosting and sublease it to them. They log in, choose a subdomain (robstowing.mysite.com), and upload their template to the subdomain.

They would have a user/pw to protect their account from my other customers using the same server.

Any ideas as to how to do this?

Sounds like reseller hosting is what you need.

with a vps you can do this. Just add new accounts to WHM and give them the logins.

You can get a VPS/Dedi and setup WHM/Cpanel w/ WHMCS if you want to setup a billing solution, but these are alittle costly. Best solution / cheapest is setting up a Reseller Hosting. They give you unlimited cpanels, etc...

As above, go for a good reseller program, someone like Hostgator. This will always leave you with the option to upgrade at a later stage.

So your client don't have their own domain?

They will hosting their site using your your subdomain such as clientA.yourdomain.com and clientB.yourdomain.com ?

Essentially, yes.

But they would log into the server, create their own user/pw, and choose from a variety of templates, modify them, and then have their own website: clienta.yourdomain.com.

Just like webs.com, yola.com, and all the other free web hosts.

Problem is, I don't know of a program/script/wordpress application that allows me to set this up.

I would rather recommend you do reseller hosting, but leave a door open for those who want their own domain. Subdomains will only keep people happy who do not know any better.

As a suggestion to keep it in the server, you could solve it as a WP Theme. Buy developer's license for sth VERY flexible, enambling different layouts, skins and backgrounds, create a good variety of them and make their design changes choosable by mere clicks.

Why do you want it to happen offline - is connectivity a problem for them?
