First of all i would like to say Happy New Year to all of you,and may you achieve all the success & happiness in 2017.
I need a little help with selecting expired domains for my PBN.I have scraped couple of hundred expired domains with my tools. What metrics you usually go after while registering the domains?.Also i would like to know what Backlink analysis service, free if there is any,are you using to check the backlink profile of the domains.I tried using Ahrefs, and Majesticseo, they both are good but i don't have budget right now to go far premium plans.

If you can then keep a Min RD 20 and check those backlinks yourself to ensure they are quality and not blog comments & profile links.

Nargil has a great guide on how to look if a domain is good or not. You should be able to find his guide using the search button or google ;)

I use the majestic metrics TF/CF to get an idea of what I m dealing with, the bulk check is a cool feature to move fast, but velocity isn't always your best friend here. Time ago I used to be more elitist in selecting domains, but being too much "metric centric" you can lose not bad opportunities because here we are not looking for the goldmine domain name, but just for an interesting domain, that have few backlinks and a clean life.

Sometimes I prefer to go with a domain that had great content because that is also a good signal.

Anyway you have to make sure that the domain you chose doesn't have spammy anchor texts

    1) first check your domain on screenshots.com, if everything clearn with no apparent PBN things (like nonsense english/Japanese), go to next step

    2) check your domain on archive.org (time machine), and see its each catch, if no apparent shady things, go to next step

    3) you need to get subscription account on MajesticSEO.com or Ahrefs.com, many people prefer Majestic SEO, because it got some pointers like TTF(topic trust flow) which can tell you what niche of this domain mostly, and TF/CF, which are more accepted by marketers, and so many tiny things I forgot.

Lets say Referring Domains (RD), means how many refer domains this expired domain got! Like others said, better >20 RD, which means this expired domain got links from 20+ different domains that apparently better than 10 RD.

    4) Manually check the Anchor text of this domain using Majesticseo in order to avoid any spammed domains. But I found that some shady domains got sneaky anchors only shown at Ahrefs.com, because it got the largest backlink database.

Never forget to check old history database and fresh database of each domain! You may found some expired domains are clean with when check its old history backlink/anchor history, it got spammed already!

    5) typically, all of 4 above steps can ensure a Clean domain, finally check each of backlink this expired domain got and see if any good links, if there are, then bonus+++++!

I end do this for almost a year till now, hope didn't miss any part !
