    Hi All,

Bit of a Newb here. I sell downloadable content and have had my files hosted piecemeal in different places because I have not come up with a better solution yet.

I have a Godaddy domain and host the files on there, then give the links out to my customers. Godaddy tells me that their hosting site is not meant to be used that way. They have not given me any problems yet because my download traffic has not been that much, but I expect it to increase a lot soon.

I see that Godaddy has a file storage package. Anyone have any experience with it?

I am hosting files that are about 2-3GB each, so I need a file storage host that will be okay with downloading those size files. I may get up to300GB-500GB downloaded in a day.

Drop box shut me down for that kind of traffic even though they say "unlimited" band width, and Mediafire just Sucks.

So, can anyone suggest a good storage host that could accommodate my needs?

Welcome to the world of "unlimited" web hosting where nothing is actually unlimited.

Depending on you budget you can do a few things:

    1) Locate a host that has real restrictions in place (ie. 10GB of storage & 100GB of bandwidth) as they will more than likely allow you to actually utilize the space they sell you as opposed to people like GoDaddy, HostGator, BlueHost etc. where they hide the limitations in the fine print.

I have been using Stablebox for years without issue, but then again I never tried to host a ton of largish downloads. I would ping them to see what they can offer you and see what it would cost to use the volume of bandwidth you intend to use.

There are a few other decent hosts out there, but they are few and far between these days.

    2) Get a VPS or Dedicated server - these will allow you to use all the resources you purchase (VPS you will have some CPU limitations, but dedicated you can do as you lke for the most part).

    3) Amazon S3 - They will host your data and charge on you a per GB basis - likely way too damn expensive.

I am not aware of really any other ways to do it "cheap", plenty of CDN's out there that will do exactly as you desire, but CDN's are never all that cheap.

If you make a good profit then a dedicated server will be you butter zone.

Unlimited bandwidth is just a cheap strategy to attract customers but there is a catch mentioned in TOS. I would recommend you to go for offshore cloud hosting, VPS or a dedicated server.

Go with a dedicated server, best experience since it isn't shared with anyone:)

I say go with a dedicated server that offer Unmetered 1gbps or so bandwidth.

    Check SYS (SoYouStart)
