Need a cheap server or something for using EWP

I want to use extreme wiki poster to post to 2k+ wiki sites but with my internet connection its going really slow
and i want to know if there is a a good and cheap solution that will enable me to submit a lot faster?

Get a VPS. There are a few providers on BHW, although I've only used (and still am using) Hostamus.

Sorry for the newbie question, but with a VPS will i be able to use software from my desktop like extreme wiki poster and magic submitter
and not only scrapebox, xrumer or senuke?
I have 10MBPS connection, and the posting is really slow for some reason, so i would love to get it like 10 times faster.

To use a VPS, you will connect using the Remote Desktop tool, which opens another desktop up. You will need to install any software on the VPS (the software needs to support your VPS's operating system - mine is Windoes Server 2008). I don't have EWP but I have run Magic Submitter on my VPS.

The connection speed should be much faster than your home one, depending on the VPS's specs. I just ran a speedtest on mine and got 185Mbps.

Also, i checked a few vps providers and they all tell you how much ram memory, disc space and bandwidth you will get, but how do i know what connection
speed will i get? where can i find that?

A VPS has it's own operating system, e.g. Linux, Windows, etc... It doesn't run on your computer's OS. I'd go for a Windows-based VPS such as Windows Server 2008 since most IM tools are made for Windows.

To know the connection speed, it's best to ask the VPS supplier directly, since you can't tell from knowing just the ram/bandwidth/disk-space.

Hmm, I don't know about 1Gbps speed, but I'd imagine it'd be very expensive.

Anyway, I think you should make sure that you're getting at least 100Mps speed.

Get a Windows-based VPS since most IM tools work on Windows. Magic Submitter requires the .NET framework + IE8 to run, so I simply installed those on my VPS to get Magic Submitter running.

Also, get sufficient RAM. I often run three instances of Scrapebox at a time and 1GB RAM is sufficient for this. But if you're only running one instance, then less RAM (e.g. 512MB) should be fine.

There are providers with "1Gbps" speeds, but really you're on a 1Gbps network with however many other users they put on a host. Which sounds great.. Until you throw things like ScrapeBox, Xrumer and other highly threaded applications that use often hundreds of connections.

So the connection speeds are spotty, sometimes you will get very good speeds, sometimes you will get crap speeds. It all depends on how many users are on there and whether they're all working at the same time.

1.) The resources you pay for are yours and only yours, plus resources are allocated on the host machine just for your VPS. Instead of cramming on as many users as possible, the number of users per server is dictated by the number of VPS the server has the resources for. So however much RAM/CPU you pay for, that's how much you have available.

2.) The bandwidth works the same way. Instead of stuffing as many users as it takes to eat up the connection, the number of users is also dictated by how much bandwidth is available. Which is 100Mbps per user. Another thing, since the bandwidth is divided up like this, you also get unlimited transfer. So your speed is 100Mbps at 3AM and at 3PM.

3.) You get full control over the VPS. Not just a limited account on a server. You are given a Windows XP Pro VPS and there is one account on there, Administrator. That is you. You can install, uninstall, create other users (virtual assistant?) and everything else the Administrator can do. Instead of creating the system around, "how to lock people out of as much as possible," the system was created with "how to allow people as much access as possible." And the end result is 100%.

And actually, some very big machines may come eventually with dedicated 1Gbps, 4GB RAM, 3x2.66GHz..
