I'm having a difficult time understanding Google's new algorithm pertaining to what is considered good SEO or not. My question is this: Does it hurt your SEO ranking if you begin your page with a video link and followed with content or vice-versa? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I don't think it matters. Having a link placed in a different spot shouldn't affect you in anyway, unless you try to hide or camo the link.

I don't think anyone can say anything for sure, but I'd put it after the content just to be safe because I heard the crawlers scan content left-right, top-bottom

Either way should be fine, technically. Personally however, I'd place it later in the content because having the link so high increases your bounce rate, which does affect SEO.

I would split test it, see which version increased retention and go with that one. If one keeps visitors around longer, that one will be better for seo I would think!
