NC resident wanting to do Amazon Associates

Hi all,

Amazon have decided that folks in NC can no longer be Amazon Associates. What is the best way around this? Set up a company in another state? I have no idea how to do that. Perhaps just forget Amazon and use another affiliate service?

Do you have a relative in another state? I set up my amazon mailing address as my aunt and uncles in Iowa as I am from NC as well.

No, all my relatives are in another country. So need another alternative.

They did this because NC, and other states like mine put taxes on internet marketers AND the companies that pay the internet marketers - in this case Amazon. Yes, that's right - Hawaii expects Amazon to pay taxes to the state of Hawaii for the "privelege" of doing business with someone who resides in their state (internet marketers like me). Amazon decided to say - screw you Hawaii and so nobody in my state can be an Amazon affiliate. The idiot politicians don't realize that they lose money when applying taxes like this - take a basic business class morons. Anyway, my way around this is an LLC elsewhere - now I still do business with Amazon and don't pay taxes to my home state for that business. I believe NY has the same issue - Overstock is another company that won't do business here and NY.
