Native ads arbitrage to website monetized with display ads?

Anyone here running ads on native ads networks to get traffic to your website that you monetize with Adsense, Google Adx, or any other top display ad network like Mediavine, ezoic?

What are your results if you don't mind sharing?

How much you paying CPC or CPM and how much you make RPM?
What is the typical profit margin, like how much are you spending per month and how much revenue are you generating to make it worth it?

I think the goal is to pay as little as possible CPC/CPM and try to get as many ad impressions out of every single visitor to your website.

Are you doing fake storytelling to get visitors to stay longer on the website to read the full story? or are you doing listicles like top 10 life hacks, 7 best places to retire, etc?

Yes, I’ve tested native ads for Adsense/Ezoic monetization. The margins are pretty tight — CPC/CPM usually ends up higher than the RPM unless you really optimize. Listicles and curiosity-style storytelling (“top 10, best of, shocking facts”) tend to perform better for engagement. Profitability depends a lot on geo targeting and ad network approval, but in general, you need cheap Tier 2/3 traffic to make the numbers work.

Are you using only Adsense and/or Ezoic? Have you tried other display ad networks that pay better RPM? Or hard to get in because they don't like this kind of traffic?

If you don't mind, can you share some examples of how much you are paying CPC/CPM and RPM?

I often see these native ads on popular news sites where they do fake storytelling or listicles or shocking facts to get people to click the ad to go to the website. It must be working for them if they are still running the ads. Just not sure what profit margin they are running on, ad spend to revenue numbers.

I think the goal is to pay as little as possible for CPC/CPM and then try to make the visitors stay longer on the website by creating interesting content. I guess that's why I see people doing listicles, shocking facts and fake storytelling, it's to get as many ad impressions out of every visitor to the website.

Are you doing the same things they are doing? Ad, 1-2 paragraph content, ad again, 1-2 paragraph content, ad again, and just repeat like this for the entire page.

I think if you get cheap tier 2/3 traffic, then the ad network pays you cheap tier 2/3 RPM.
So wouldn't it be better to focus on U.S traffic with a high RPM ad network and a high RPM niche? Don't different niches pay different RPM?

Yeah, that’s a classic arbitrage model a lot of people test with Taboola, Outbrain, or Revcontent. The margins can be really thin though since CPC is often high and RPM depends heavily on niche and geo. Most who make it work focus on viral-style content or listicles that keep people clicking around for multiple pageviews.

I haven't seen that lately. I used to see tons of quizzes / viral click bait lists. I don't see anymore.

I don't think I see any quizzes but I still see clickbait storytelling, listicles and shocking facts.

The thing that concerns me is the low profit margin so it is kind of hard to scale unless you have a very large budget. Otherwise you have to run ads and stop until you get paid before you can run ads again. So it takes a long time to reach that high budget.
