Of course they are here to stay (IMHO). Timeline is a big unknown though.
But yea, if this story is true, and comes to fruition, can you imagine where the value of BTC and so on would go to?

but some other effects might be that nearly all of the 1500 coins will be wiped out
with only a few big fish left standing: btc, eth, ltc, xrp, and a few select others

I think bitcoins has same future as liberty reserve.
It involves money laundering.
It is untraceable so it's the currency of criminals also.
All criminals in dark net use it.
All stolen money and other financial crimes they convert money to bitcoins and cash out their stolen money and other illigal money to bitcoins.

i never really got into btc bc of the price point
eth and xrp are my main holding - still room to grow in market cap

Skeptical on how far the value JUMP entirely because of this. When it comes to stocks, most of the value is already factored into the price the next day after these "proposed" news stories.

More like in stocks it’s already factored in by the time you read the story. With crypto it’s a bit more reactive. But also, for me it just further confirms there is a future in crypto.
