Nanoblog Project - Follow Along

Hi Fellow BHs,

I am going to use the rest of the year to concentrate on setting up a nanoblog based on the just launched nanobloggers product by Peter S. There is a lot of hype and belief in the method so I am going to put it to the test.

I'll leave nothing out and if I make any money with this method I plan to copy this entire thread into a PDF and sell it on Clickbank

My plan:

I am gong to enter the weight loss niche. There is usually a lot of 'conversations' going on this niche and with the new year imminent, I think there'll be lots of traffic to go around.

The guide is a bit all over the place, so I am going to utilize my own approach in getting the whole thing setup. Since I know my niche already I am going to start by setting up the blog first, then build in the other components.

I'm sure this question illustrates my 'newbieness' (new word?) but if anyone could answer it would be much appreciated.

In the Nanobloggers manual he says to set up separate Gmail accounts, each with a different persona and with a different photo of 'yourself' reflecting the demographic of each particular micro-niche you enter.

1.) Where can I obtain photos of different faces where someone won't see it and accuse me of using their likeness without their permission?
2.) Will Google allow me to set up separate Gmail accounts with completely different names and can I manage them all in Thunderbird?

Are you going the cover the entire weight loss niche or are you taking a micro part out of it and build around that?

2. Yes, you can set up different Gmail accounts and manage them in one Gmail account.

That's what makes Nanoblogging unique. You don't need micro keywords, it pays you more to go broader and wider...kind of generic niche. Nanobloggers don't target keyword you target people. The good thing is that you don't need SERP-SEO,PPC and all that. It's worth trying.

Update:

Well guys I've completed the setup of the blog (almost!). I am now going to complete the presell for the 'offer page'. Once I am done with this I'll move on to setting up the alerts and make my first post.

A few points for anyone who is also giving this a go:

1. The offer page has to be created before it can be displayed for the home page of the blog. Just create a page as you normally do in wordpress and call it what you like.

2. The iframe code supplied by the author couldn't display properly in Seth Godin plugin so I used a different snippet from one of my sites.

Snippet: <IFRAME src="http://www.insertyourhostedofferpagehere"

width="600" height="350" frameborder= "no" scrolling="no">

</IFRAME>

3. The 'action message' can be whatever you like, but I have gone for an image created in photshop as my action message. I have basically put my persona picture on there with a call to action - much like the nanobloggers eg

4. Again if you are using the thesis theme I have gone for robins egg blue hex # 6495ED as the background colour. This is the colour cited in 43 Split Tests as the optimal background colour for gaining the trust of your visitors.

5. The XML Sitemap mentioned in the guide is properly called Google XML Sitemap. To use it just download the plugin, install the plugin and create the sitemap. Copy the url of the sitemap and plug it into the Dagon Design sitemap generator. Then follow the instructions as per the guide. if you do it correctly your sitemap page should look something like that outlined in the nanobloggers eg.

If anyone hits any snags while setting up just let me know and I'll try and help.

Well after plugging in the keyword 'weight loss' into Google alerts I realized that the results weren't very targeted. In other words there wasn't a lot of conversations worth joining regarding that keyword term. From looking at Dave Guindon's (Google Traffic Pump) technique of asking a question framed around the keyword, I see that this approach will yield better results.

So as an example you'd setup an alert for 'How To Lose Weight Fast' as opposed to 'Lose Weight'.

That's the general idea.

I looked over the nanoblogger wso last night and man does he have a lotof little setting and tweaks, like dozens of them and I couldn't tell what they were supposed to do.

Hey T10, Great Post...will be watching your success

I'm just hair behind you with my nanoblogging implementation...and I do have a question regarding the Iframe.

I created my offer page... with the most important details and link at the top of course... But my title and sub is taking up too much space for what needs to be IFramed and looks too repetitive compared to the actual homepage the iFrame is on....can you take out the title for the offer page, but leave it for homepage/sitemap/etc.?
