Namesilo is going crazy

Same happened with GoDaddy 10 years ago, then with Namecheap, and now Namesilo.

Everytime ICANN suggest a price increase on the .COM, Namesilo is increasing a 10% out of the blue when others simply stay way lower (5% at most).

From tomorrow, $10.5 per .COM renewal in Namesilo (100+ domains, otherwise $11 per .COM!)

It feels it's time to do another full move to a new registrar soon.



Probably I will end in Porkbun, I started testing them like 3 years ago with a dozen domains, and I feel confident now they are pretty solid. After 1st September, they will stay under the $10 hood.

Hate how this great registrars keep going higher and higher over the time. They can't never maintain their theoretical original selling proposition (bulk low pricing, unless you have 500+ domains with them!)

Still is a pain in the ass to do this movement to save just $100 per year, but I feel kind of disappointed. I wonder if Porkbun has a massive transfer tool, saving all the DNS area registers

I recently moved all my domains to Porkbun after having a few domains on it for years and a few others on other providers like namecheap and A2Hosting. Porkbun is just clean and never had any issues or hassle.
Still have a few sketchier domains on Njalla, but ain't planning on migrating those anyway

Porkbun does have this multi-submit form for transfers which worked fine for me.

I'm with namesilo for most of my domains, and also getting frustrated with them each time they increase their price.
Now their price is no longer cheap as advertised.

The .com price increases wholesale prices and these are really dictated by Verisign who controls it, not individual registrars. Verisign held them fixed for years and then last year I read they planned each year as dictated per ICANN contract allows 7%.

10% increase does not seem much, I received notification from porkbun that they will increase their prices and I did not even paid attention to it even if I own about 250 domains. Probably I will close down some but not that this is the most disturbing increase that I have noted.

Right now here in the north EU - grocery prices have gone up 40-70%. Service prices naturally are following the upward trend.

Yesterday wanted to order firewood for the fireplace as the fall season is closing in and had a surprise of a ~200% price increase.

People for central/north/east europe - brace yourselves, winter is coming.




Btw, can you easily move domains? few months ago I tried and was introduced with moving fee that costs almost as new domain.

Yeah there's a fee worth a years' price, but as far as I understand when you pay that transfer fee, you also get 1 'free' year to your domains renewal time.

This is what's stated on the Porkbun transfer page:
"All transfers of gTLD domain names include a one year renewal of the domain unless the domain is inside the auto renew grace period."

Correct me if I misinterpreted that statement.

Hires a VA for $100 for migrating the domains to another registrar to save $100.

There is this thing called inflation you know… everything and everyone are raising their price.

Price increase has nothing to do with registrars, imagine running a ecom dropshipiing and your supplier increases prices or their is a new tax or the shipping partner increases prices. The avg domain price is around $10 to $14 around most registrars now.

every company is doing the same.

Also, some make a 500% - 1000% profit... no need to raise the price for every damn service, because it's inflation, but why not if people have to buy that service/product/thing.

Let's say for example the Verisign/ICANN case. Has the cost for maintaining their network for example (including staff etc.) increased from last year? Probably not. Then why the price increase? Same for 1000+ more things.

Companies follow the trend, and people follow like sheep.

For example the ICANN price increase IS NOT justified:

Why the price increase when the expense is going down? This will only result in more profit.

Now I'm also considering also Dynadot in my registrar list.
