namecheap webhosting is it ok?

namecheap is amazing, i had a problem with the domain name i chose and they gave me a refund (which they usually don't do apparently.)

Namecheap service always has been topnotch for me for domains & webhosting.
However, Do keep in mind there are isolated cases that do popup.
I remember @MrDenz losing all his hosting on namecheap once and had to pay to get the backup versions.

Otherwise @Alienarts, a startup project is completely fine with namecheap, once you are getting quite a bit of traffic, you would start to feel the need to get better hosting.
For Managed Hosting, I do recommend Rocket.net or WPX
For Unmanaged hosting go for the trusty old Digital Ocean

Somehow I missed this...

Yeah, but that was my mistake honestly.

It costs $15 so they can do backup.

I will never forget that day, girl from Live Chat spent at least 2 hours fixing that and getting 3 of my sites back up live and running again.

That is something I've never done before, I can only imagine how much it would take me to do it all on my own.

But, yeah, there are definitely cases in which Namecheap is not so perfect, but in general, for the price we are paying, I believe it is solid service.

Yeah, it was a terrible situation to be in, but they came through even at the expense of 15 bucks, they coulda been a dick and charged a liver for it
Can't even begin to imagine how much Godaddy or siteground woulda charged

What I like about Namecheap:

1) they're cheap... and if you wait until Black Friday you can get the "unlimited everything" plan for $10-12 for the 1st year (that's what I did last year on Black Friday when I became their client)
2) their support is good (they've helped me instantly and always, no matter which problem I had)

What I don't like about Namecheap:

1) their "unlimited everything" plan is not really unlimited. They have inodes (or lnodes, or whatever the hell they are called) limit of 300k, after which you can not host any more sites. Basically, this 300,000 inodes / lnodes metric is just the number of files you are allowed to have on your hosting plan, which should be more than enough for newbies to get their feet wet with hosting. I have like 12 sites in my hosting account and they take up about 180,000 inodes / lnodes in total.

And the reason I don't like this is not because there's a limit to the number of files you can have (although this is bothersome, too), but because it's being advertised as "unlimited everything" but there's this limit that's hidden from plain sight and you have to know what you're looking for in order to find it being mentioned in the knowledgebase. And newbies are not aware of these limits, so....

2) they give free SSL for the first year only, and if you want your sites to be secured (https instead of http) starting with year 2 you must pay $8 per year, per site. If you can afford paying the extra $8 per year, per site, to have your domain name say https instead of http, that's fine I guess. But I didn't like it.

Conclusion: Namecheap is pretty good overall if you're not fussy like me

I worked out my way through this SSL problem. Just connect to Cloudflare and your site is SSL protected. Shows the https on address bar. It's free.

Although, if you are using Emails of the domain it could show some errors. But since I don't use emails on my domain Its no problem for me..

they are so good ... and their support is very fast ... they just take 15-20 seconds to respond

My SSL certificate just got expired, can you tell me how to get free SSL from Cloudflare?
Do I need to change domain nameservers to Cloudflare, and within Cloudflare I create A record and point it to hosting IP? Is that it?

Just google it with your domain/hosting provider and you'll get detailed step by step. It's pretty easy. If you just need a free SSL you can also use Really Simple SSL plugin.
 
It's ok when you're just starting out. In fact my main site used to be on Namecheap for about a year. Once you get around 50k visits a month it's time to move on to a VPS.

One of their support told me: any Wordpress site can integrate Ezoic easily by using their WP plugin, no matter a shared hosting, VPS, or whatever. Plus, they even have free website host. So if this means, even no need to whitelist the IPs anymore?

I haven't tried them myself though.
