Namecheap blocking accounts

I registered a domain a few days ago, let it sit, and today when I wanted to login to my account it says they have detected an unusual activity they blocked my account and I have to contact their support to rovide identity documents.
IP was clean, nothing special or wrong on my end.
Since I registered the domain with a dummy name I guess I won't be able to get the account back, that's a shity situation because I like this domain name.
Well I guess I just have to move on, I won't register a domain on namecheap anymore, finito.
Hope it helps, for those considering namecheap for their business.

Never happened to me I brought an auctioned domain from them recently no problems.
 
I have many domains in namecheap and they never asked for an Id
 
Never had a problem with namecheap.
A great registrar.
 
I used namecheap for years they never asked for my ID but I use real cards that are in my name.

majority of my domains are under random names, random addresses, some are even made up
Some clearly don't even make sense like
Joe ANKMAF
They never cared aslong as i can "verify" the email.
Maybe the payment/CC bounced and was identified under fraud or something.
Honestly, that would be a higher likely case.
I paid NC using virtual CC, paypal, gift card cc, crypto... Never once asked for my ID
I also have multiple accounts, some even using the same IP.

Amazon does this if the cards are not activated this trigger fraud protection which locks the account.

Amazon fraud detection is a totally different subject
Also.
Amazon has dog shit cc protection, not going go into this topic since it's forbidden by the forum.
 
I got more informations from them, in fact they refunded me and realeased the domain so I registered it somewhere else, that's some good news :)
Yes they seem to be a good company I have other domains with them, but I don't know why this one didnt get through.
I used a virtual CC number that we can generate online on your bank website and is attached to a real card. It's a reputable bank I always use virtual numbers from them.
Namecheap asked for a pic of my card and bank statement not ID papers sorry.
 
You put a fake name and address and then you're surprised that your domain was suspended?

You do realize that providing false registration information is grounds for suspension under ICANN rules, right?
 
Namecheap is better then godaddy and porkbun.
They will steal your domain if it expired.

if your in IM and never done this then congrats :)
I have lots of domains, all registered with fake data without any problem at all.
 
I've been working with these guys for years and never had an issue.

Yes I also have other domains with them and dont have any issue, I dont know why they flagged my cc this time and asked for proof I am the holder. Honestly I don't want to register domains there anymore now.
 
God damn, I never expect this would happen.

Please don't happen on me, its shit!
 
what you are on about , you said identity documents not card information .

most companies ask for card info and statements if something went wrong
