I switched hosting accounts and transferred the DNS of about 10 domains. All but 1 went thru fine. The last domain name just wont transfer over to the new name servers for some reason. Its been 3 days.

The domain is question had its own nameservers (ns1.mydomain.com, ns2.mydomain.com) as it was the main domain for my WHM. I deleted the name servers on namecheap and transsferred them to the new server name servers.

    It wont fly.

    Anyone got any ideas?

Make sure the domain is not locked.

Also, sometimes you have to email support to request it be taken of private nameservers to prevent someone maliciously hijacking the DNS for your nameservers :D

if everything is exactly the way you say it is then I dont see what the problem is. my guess is you've added the nameservers to the wrong place and/or still have your records hosted at the nameservers that no longer exist.

It sounds like you tried to delete the host records at namecheap and those host records were under the domain that you're having trouble with.

You can't do that if any domain in that tld is using the nameservers, the registries all forbid it.

You should be able to change the domains nameservers though. Try toggling them to another set of nameservers and back again.

You need to email namecheap support if this doesn't help. I've seen weird things happen (especially with .org and .info domains) where the nameserver info at the registRAR is out of sync with whats at the registRY and the registRAR has to go into their system and force it to update.

What is the TTL set to? Routers will cache the old addresses until the TTL expires then they will update again.

Contact NameCheap Support, they will be able to help you. And since you said that you had your own nameservers on this domain and you've just transferred it to your new hosting account it sounds like you will probably need a new dedicated IP from your current host in order to be able to use those nameservers which is the reason your domain is not updating. You will need to enter the dedicated IP in NameCheap. If you are using different nameservers now, then make sure you deleted the old nameserver IP from your NameCheap account. If this doesn't help then just contact NameCheap. ;)

WOW...thanks guy...a flux of responses..thats awesome. Let me explain everything how it happened.

registered md.com and setup hosting + 2 name servers (ns1.md.cm, ns2.md.com) and all my domains pointed to ns1,ns2.md.com. So far so good.

Changed hosting over to a new server with a new domain name as the central account md2.com. Setup 2 more name servers ns1.md2.com and ns2.md2.com. Transfered all my domains over to ns1,ns2.md2.com and all domain except md.com are working fine.

I have gone into name cheap and deleted the nameservers for md.com (ns1.md.com , ns2.md.com)

So it looks like I got to email namecheap.
