n00b Question

I'm 100% new to SEO, and website ranking in general for that matter. However, its very important for my business (and every business for that matter) to drive traffic to my landing page to generate leads.

I target distressed home owners who need to quickly sell their houses, usually for 40-50% of the market value. I typically utilize direct mail, but realize landing pages can just as effectively drive revenue for my investment group.

From my research, it looks like Blackhat SEO can potentially result in having your domain banned from search engines.

My question is, should I register multiple "throw away" domains to utilize blackhat SEO, in the case they get banned from search engines? This type of search optimization looks like a very attractive shortcut to generate leads.....or do you you guys feel like some vendors here can effectively execute their respected techniques and not have my domain banned?

Any guidence would be greatly appreciated

What you said is absolutely right, BH methods will lead to ban your site if they aren't done properly. You should pay attention to each and every single process involved in this technique. Most of the websites which are ranking out there may use BH methods for ranking as they are doing it with perfection.

Imo, this is not the correct way of developing a website for a business like yours, it should be a legit site which needs to be maintained for a long-term in order to gain reputaion. Branding a name for yourself is very improtant to get more leads.

Make your linkbuilding with strong backlinks related to your nichie. Sure it will help you lot

Make sure your landing page is properly optimized to get lead before you do SEO.

Write articles, check competitor keywords and do posting

Start a high quality business website and add a blog to it. Publish link-worthy content on your blog and promote them via email outreach, social media, broken link building...to generate high quality links. With time, your site will start ranking for your target keywords.

You can also create a throw-away site alongside the whitehat site and use blackhat technques to rank it and generate leads faster, but make sure you don't link both sites. If possible, use separate hosting for both.

I havn't used any SEO on my website at all.

I've been hanging around the forums, and familiarizing myself with SEO techniques to I can atleast try and communicate what I want to do. This area of marketing is like chinese to me lol

Welcome! I am verr N0ob at this is well. I have had a ban happen to me for using some techniques here. I think I maybe just overused them. I have noticed that when I use a few different methods rather than the same one over and over it seems to work better and maybe disguises my SEO practices from whatever bots may be watching.
