N00b alert: How do I get started with social marketing?

So far I've been hardcore on the google SEO but since that isn't proving as fruitful as I'd hoped I am now interested in other avenues.

I've never even had a facebook- or maybe did for a week and shut it down cos I thought it stupid shit.

Now money making is a diff matter

I've used youtube loads ofc. but still dont know how marketing works on there or only have a dim idea- i often get spam messages in my inbox on my account there.

So could ppl just give me a cpl of the common marketing practices on YT and FB so I can research them.

I would try getting a fan page with if you don't know how to make one you could go onto fiver and have someone create one for you and then start promoting from there. Also, don't forget that customers and people love free items.. so not sure what you are trying to market but you could give a discount or free item or etc..
