Disclaimer: this is not an ebook/guide that you need to pay $99 for. It is free. Or is it?
Years ago when I didn't even knew what reddit is, I was reading here mostly.
And most comments were going like this: Reddit can get you tons of traffic, BUT the conversion is shit or non.
Fortunately this is myth... and a truth.
Let me explain.
It is a myth when:
Is it true when:
Sure, there is spam that flies under the radar. But that is usually in niches like NSFW, crypto, etc.
However, most spam produces shit. You end up doing tons of harm for far too little to be justified IMO.
That is why I use to say this: grab an account, jump on reddit, use it as a regular user.
Jump on your favorite topics. In a few days... if you have any marketing skills you will start to notice how people interact on each subreddit.
You will see how hard or how soft your messages needs to be.
Also, interact (post, comment, offer value when you can).
This will build your account credibility. And when you post a decent promotional message, and someone checks your profile, you have better chances of being trusted.
Sure, you might get some accounts banned but take it as a part of learning and a way of staying away from spamming.

Let me explain.
It is a myth when:
- you are in the right niche (most)
- your posts/comments/accounts aren't shit
- you offer value
- you sound genuine
- you don't spam
- you offer/review good/awesome products/services
- you post in niches like meme/funny
- you expect your promotional/spammy message to do miracles for your income
- you expect adsense clicks to go wild
- you post on subs like CMS that are spammed to death
- you sell snake oil or any 'hit & run' products/services
