My plan is to make video tutorials for computer programs. For example, tutorials for Pixlr.

What will the challenges be? Any tips/advice?

main challenge i guess would be creating good quality content and getting traffic to your videos

Good stuff. Challenge is to be able to produce a LOT of content quickly. You need 3 videos per week at least. Tackle also long tail searches like "how to do x with pixlr".

Look for topics that have no tutorials yet and have a demand or if there are tutorials try to out do your competitors and also get the Vidiq plugin

Sounds like a great idea. I have seen a lot of good youtube channels that provide tutorials.

I'm sure showing how the latest software application works could be useful.

Make it look like it's a real presentation to make people feel like they are at a seminar or classroom could ad to the aesthetics of it if that's already present.

Check out what similar channels are doing, start a twitter account and follow people who watch similar channels. Put together a site to post your videos to and include an email sign up for people to be notified when you post a new video to keep people coming back.

hey everyone...should I just gun for niches that don't have competition? I hate to say it but all the good ones are taken... how do I take views away from established videos where the content is already pretty good?

No need to worry about the niches that have already taken.If you are good in those niches then chose themselves and be creative and make a little twist in the title as well as in the video.Make it look legit and include yourself in a small window(self-video) but don't make it a lazy stuff by making some notepad stuff.Be quick and clear in the video.Make yourself a brand for that niche if you are really good in it. as it pulls the subscribers and viewers more easily.Good luck.

Challenges would be to compete with big authority channels and building a subscribers base since it will take a bit of time. So be ready to send time for this process.
