You are not telling us what apache version you are using, what sql/php/apache optimization you have done. Are you using cache in order to deliver the content faster?

    I would suggest you to:

    1) Install cache in order to deliver faster the content you can use SQL cache also
    2) Google a bit for optimization of apache/php and MySQL

For me your issue is with hug amount of IOs 1GB of ram is more that fine for wordpress site with ~1k visits /hour

If after those 2 steps your server is still crashing then I would suggest you to change provider. And I can recommend you www.webuzo.net offshore ssd vps no single issue, providing ssd vps servers . Another option is www.abelohost.com NL provider.

SSD VPS is way better that HDD VPS if you have IOs issues.

    /cheers

Also look at the plugins and widgets that you are running. Try disabling all of them and then check performance. If it loads ok, add the plugins back in one at a time until you see a problem.

yes of course, I have apache 2.2.16. Did i do any optimization? I am not sure, I have this for 3 years and can't remember. I have Wordpress Wp super cache plugin.
I have tested it with other simple pages and the server can handle pretty well. Just this wordpress is causing problems.
