My Wikipedia link got deleted

So, for a client (moving company), we prepared a linkable page on their website that summarized best practices how to prepare for moving.

I placed a link on Wikipedia under "Moving" (in my language) and 10 minutes later the link got deleted.

Do you think it could be due to

- the public proxy I used?
- or I was not registered to Wikipedia for posting the link?
- or maybe the content was not academic enough? (but after all the Wiki article itself was not very "scientific")

This is my experience with Wikipedia. I would welcome some of your inputs

It's because one of the editors didn't like what they saw when they noticed a link was added.

You have to look at the context of where the link was placed, the anchor text, and the output page.

If you just put Moving company in as the link and it went to a top 10 list on your page what value is that? It just looks like someone getting a link. If you provide something on your clients site that is of value when referenced then that might stick around a while longer.

Wikipedia is not as easy as just placing a link and winning...

Wiki editor's #1 activity is to look out for sleazy internet marketers trying to put links to their businesses from wikipedia. It's difficult to get under the radar, but not impossible. I have about 3 techniques that I will not share, for obvious reasons. However, I will say that one way to FAIL is to modify an existing article and not leave editor's comments. They have 'bots that do nothing but cruise all the wiki articles looking for edits that are not explained, and if it finds any, it flags those edits to a special class of wiki editors whose only focus is to review non-described edits. It's a big red flag.

Also, if you have an SPA (Single Purpose Account) that is obviously created just to make a single edit, that's a flag also.

Understand, Wiki editors are better editors than most of you are internet marketers. You are pee-wee football players trying to take on the NFL. They are going to crush your little bodies, stuff them inside your helmets, and then stuff those helmets inside your own assholes, and then punt your asses through the goal posts of life. It's so unfair, I'd almost feel sorry for you poor nOObs. But I don't, because Internet Marketing is about being smarter than the next guy.

first do some random edits over 30 day's, then place your link . And continue doing some random edits after you have placed the link.
And obviously your content will have to really outstanding and in context to where you placed your link.

its not easy to get backlinks at wikkipedia. i one placed a backlink at wikkipedia and it stayed for 3 days. i got 2000 visitors in 3 days just from wikkipedia and that was very good.

I really dont like wikipedia....information like all things in this world has its costs....if you submit a piece of quality information that is usefull to a number of users, i wonder what harm can a link to ur website can do?

Wikipedia is highly moderated by real people.

Remove all commercial intent from your reference page, it's an easier way to make sure links stick. Use that only as an authority funnel.

A good way to do this is to actually create a directory on your site like /whitepapers or /publications that is completely different from design in order to get reference links. This technique is good not only for Wikipedia, but in milking EDU links etc.

It is a little hard to get wikipedia links. I created 10 wiki links last month and around 8 are still there after 1 month. It is not that hard. You have to do it the right way.

I remember when I shared my first bit of content on wikipedia. I added to the term "guns up". Wiki's only reference is to some college sports team's cowboy mascot so I decided to add it's relevance to the military - especially artillery. I didn't even include links in my references.
The whole damn thing was deleted by some jack ass (surely civi-college frat boy) and I was like "f*ck wiki". I still use it but see if I ever try to contribute again.

So many people say this stupid thing: "The problem with Wikipedia is that "just anyone" can say "just anything", whether it's true or not." The exact opposite is just the case.

I also have my long list of reasons why I will never put serious effort into truly improving Wikipedia, because the fact is that just about any drooling retard can DELETE just about anything, and in about 10 seconds too. You might spend 5 hours making a substantial contribution and some asshole comes along and has some extremely minor issue with it, makes up their mind that the whole thing must go, and now you are looking at an edit war that might take months to resolve.

Wikipedia doesn't put much effort into getting rid of counter-productive assholes, so the whole dynamic is structured in favor of house-bound retards that have nothing but time in order to fuck with other people's efforts.

Wikipedia is one of the primary reasons why I have abandoned democracy in favor of republicanism at least, with the door wide-open for fascism. Most people are just too fucking stupid to be entrusted with power of any sort, up to and most particularly including the ability to breed. All they do is create more retards, who then go on Wikipedia and delete the works of their intellectual and genetic superiors.
