Well, GSC will definitely be my go-to place too. I look at the losers compared to the past period and see whether the dip is overall or isolated.

May be some competitor is targetting same niche and keywords and they have replaced your ranking articles with better backlinks.
i would begin by pinpointing the exact period when the drop occurred and on which web pages nd keywords. check for indexing, rankings or manual actions using GSC nd for changes in the source of traffic using analytics. it is also important to take into account any changes in the website nd the algorithms of google.
but I will verify whether there are only a few page that are getting hit by the reduced traffic or if the entire site has been affected. In case of gradual reduction, I will verify the missed searche in comparison to my competitor is site.
