Alright, hear me out. One of my websites is built with just one goal: To help people deal with a specific problem. The rest of my sites are ultimately built with revenue in mind, but this one is not.

One of the sections on this site is "Success Stories" and many of these stories are from message board posts that I find online.

So I copy / paste the story in Wordpress, with some of my own comments, but in the end you have a duplicate content scenario.

My other option is to link the message board thread directly, but I do not consider this an option because I'm only interested in one response out of 20 posts in the message board thread; not the entire thread itself.

So what do I do? Do I want to tell Google not to crawl these pages with duplicate content? or what?

Thanks in advance to anyone that is able to help.

Duplicate content isn't something you should fear. It's happen quite a bit, if 'all' your content is duplicate, then it might be a concern but it's only one concern.

One way to deal with this is to quote the website you are using the content from, such as this:

    Code:
<blockquote cite="http://forum.com/originalformpost" title="Forum Post Title, author, date">"This is the full forum post copy and pasted unaldultered"</blockquote>
If you include any content that is you own, that is better such as "Here is an inspiration story found on link"

Don't worry to much about it, only concern yourself if you are trying to rank those pages with the inspiration story. As long as you interject with your own text then it is fine. It's a technique is U se forum, generally with cross-Web 2.0 promotion from say blogger-tumblr etc in which one account literally just comments on a post from another.

    ie:

Here is a post post recently on my blogger account I want to bring into wordpress.

    Code:
    Quoted text, couple of paragraphs
Here I talk about the following key points.

    • Subject one
    Code:
    relevant text
    • subject 2
    Code:
    relevant text

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
