are yours coming back higher ranked, the same, or weaker?
a few of mine are just moving between the same 10~ spots.

looks like most of them are coming back a little bit higher ranked. A couple of them are still gone but most are back. I had 9 keywords disappeared in the beginning and now I only have three gone.
My advice still stands - if you check back, I told you (OP) that it was more than likely a manual penalty.
Don't try to recover the site. Even if you get the penalty revoked, the site will not rank. Trust me, been there done that. Clone the site to a fresh new domain and start again.

Buy aged domain (brandable), and 301 the penalized site to the aged domain. If, in any case the aged domain penalized as well, 301 to your competitors. But I don't think G gonna penalized the new website just because of single 301.
Don't waste your money & time trying to revoke the manual penalty. I've done that before. 3 month wasted just like that.
Unless you have really solid website, with good natural backlinks (which in this case, you didn't), the chance to recover for manual penalty is low (and time consuming as well). Better spend your time & money on new website.

penalty will not necessarily follow through... if it was that simple then there'd be no google index as all websites would be penalised.
how google decide when to pass penalty? it's open to discussion but i can assure that even if you 301-redirect 100 penalised domain to yahoo, nothing will happen.

and i am really shocked all ranking drop from page 1 to page 4 and more. I did not find any message in google search console today.

Just so you know you are not alone in this.. Our TV site has suffered a similar fate..
Search Analytics show me a google update on 8/31/16 - and you can see our clicks dropping steadily since then..
Not quite off a cliff like yours - but from 2k clicks a day to 600.. so far.. and still dropping..
Maybe it has something to do with our content?
Our site is about 8 months old as well - and we haven't changed anything lately..
