My website copied and beaten in Google

Hello all!

Over the last week I've been working intensively on a website because it's a personal interest, I got a good domain name and have been putting a lot of effort in.

Now I was checking on Google this morning and somebody has registered the long title of my site (I went for a shorter domain name and yes, am now kicking myself that I didn't also take the long .com title too) and if you search for the full title of my site he is actually fairly high up - higher than me right now as I haven't even finished adding content never mind done any off site SEO.

His site has copied the exact same Wordpress theme I'm using and as far as I can tell is an autoblog as the articles are all from the same day and don't really all seem relevant.

Is there anything I can do to combat this or am I screwed? Please be nice lol. I'm actually a returning ex IM, I have experience in Backlinking and some black hat stuff but I'm definately a newbie in regards to it all.

Cheers guys

@BobbyLove - by 250k, do you mean the posts that you blast out or the posts that actually stick. Seems like a huge number if they all stick.

You must have some very good foot prints. Also, don't you see the sandbox with this type of blasting.

Scrapebox - I saw this tool 2 days ago and am currently reading a thread where people are using it.

I noticed somebody said even though it was a very good tool you needed to know what you are doing - i'm slightly out the loop right now so thought I'd come back to it once I've caught up (1 year gone).

But thank you for the recommendation. It is obviously good software with many features.

Use the wonder wheel scraper to get some keywords in scrapebox, and submit to 250,000 websites within 1 week.

Let's see if the competitor can out beat you then.

How much does scrapebox c0st?

I've had a similar thing happen to me, with my competitor stealing all my articles and just changing the anchor text url to his own.

First off, I think you just have to take it on the chin as it is an occupational hazard.

Secondly, you have to keep working at the site. Building content and backlinks. You can use scrapebox for a quick fix, as BobbyLove said above, or you can do it yourself.

In my case, which is not quite the same as yours, I've been copying my articles and adding them to numerous web 2.0 sites, with the correct source information (i.e. my site!!) That alone hasn't improved my rankings but, the web 2.0 sites have been ranking above my competitors site.

Best of luck!! :)

If you check the link above it will take you to the sales page, it's $57.

It only mentions it's tested on Windows and I'm currently on a MAC since my laptop graphics card burnt out. Anyone tried Scrapebox on MAC OS X?

->Topsytips

That is probably my next plan of action, still making content and not quite ready for SEO but yes - that's my next step I think, thanks!

It's annoying simply because right now it looks like I've copied his site lol. He hasn't even bothered to edit the default logo or remove the latin filler from the template :)

Good luck! It's irritating when this happens, but it does, and all you can do is pwn his site, look back, and laugh.

Does he steal content from you or is it simply the same theme with similar domain? If it's the same content you can begin to add backlinks within your text. By doing so his posts will automatically link back to your post and tell Google that you are the source. If you want to get rid of him you can get in touch with his host. The problem is that he can simply remove all the content from your site and replace it with new.

Clever idea however he hasn't stolen any content yet, just duplicated the site and set up an autoblog. I will keep an eye on it though. It's an identical copy with the domain name being the name of my site - I chose a shortened, better url however should have registered the long name too really.

He is ranking above me if you search for my site, it looks like my site but the content is crap so it's ruining things for me right now. I am looking into the software everyone is recommending right now, Xrumer, Scrapebox and Senuke. Unfortunately I can't afford anything until I get back into work next week so as nice as Scrapebox looks, I'll have to stick to manual methods to beat him for now.

All of your helpful replies are very much appreciated guys.

I had backlinks in all my articles and all my competitor did, as I said in my earlier post, was change them to his url.

That's why I created the web 2.0 sites, pointing to mine, to show that my site was the original source/authority for the articles.
