Ok guys, I decided to give this whole thing a shot. I have set up my very first blog here
    Code:
    hxxp://guide2homesecurity.blogspot.com/
. I found some PLR Articles in the member Downloads section of the site (Thanks to everyone who makes that section awesome), and i tried to "spin" them to make them somewhat unique. I have made two posts using this method and now I am thinking about how to get some (any) traffic.

I realize this is a heavily saturated niche, it really is just a test to what may come of it, I am still learning.

I guess what I am asking is if some of you guys can take a look and give me any pointers.

I have a lot of articles, should I spin some of them and submit them to article directories, or should I keep them all for postings. Do rss directories provide any traffic?

Thanks guys for helping to create an awesome forum and ANY feedback will be welcomed.

How will you make money off this? I dont see the point of starting a blog just to post articles on it.

Nice looking blog. And congrats on doing SOMETHING! Most never make any money because they don't do anything.....Are the adsense ads on the blogs yours? If not, then I'd highly recommend getting your own domain and starting a wordpress blog there. With blogspot, they will probably kill your blog if you try to monetize it (i'm assuming).

Good market though. with the recession, many will be looking for home security systems...find a good affiliate program to monetize your blog and you'll be on your way. Good luck!

Maybe those AdSense ads on the side. Sounds like he's doing a pretty good job since you didn't even see them!

    LOL

Not true about Blogger killing monetized blogs. Google owns Blogger, so why would they want to eliminate sources of revenue for themselves? Blogger provides built-in support for Adsense ads, so I'm not sure what you're thinking.

That being said, I do recommend WordPress on your own domain. I know this is your first blog and you're just testing things out, but if you want the most control and most security over your blog, definitely go with your own domain and Wordpress. But that isn't true about Blogger being against monetization.

Hey, thanks guys. Right now I only have the Adwords ads. I thought If I could somehow draw some consistent traffic i would look into the affiliate side of things.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for taking a look. I will definitely be looking to getting my own VPS hosting package if I can convince myself that I can at least make enough money to pay the hosting fees. ;)

I don't know if you know this, but if you do a search here at BHW, you can
find themes that are optimized for Adsense for Blogger.

Also, you can also find instructions to take the bar at the top of the blog off.

Why do you want to do this? Because then someone can't come to your blog
and "flag" it. Trust me, you want to get rid of that bar.

Yes thats great, but I doubt that he will makemuch money via the Adsense ads placed on that blog. Maybe some 5 cents a day?

I recommend getting a blog on a different niche, and using the Adsense AD-Under the picture trick to put in a fake youtube picture (of that niche) over the adsence advert.

If the niche is good, such as healthcare, Diabetes, weightloss, blood pressure - ALL the common conditions which are not directly curable. Include a youtube-type video pictutre of a health Related niche, and under the picture put the advert: there is a script and thread about this something on forum made by Harro (search).

    Secondly:

I would look into popular keywords, and adding serious content and updates and news about that specific niche.

I would then find a COMPANY that SELLS products - RELATED to that niche, write directly to their marketing department and offer to "FEATURE" their product on my blogg, with my recommendation and testimonial that it had "Worked on me".

Now: if you had good keyword density, and good niche, your blog shouldve bene getting CONSTANT hits and subscribers every day. If yor blog was to become VERY popular, you would have a big user base of people reading news and updates etc.

The Beauty: You have a website where you have frequent hits of a TARGET AUDIENCE who are interested in THAT PARTICULAR NICHE, and therefore qualify for THAT PARTICULAR PRODUCT.

This is like a dream-come true for the company because they automatically win, and can expect high conversion rates. They might offer you upfront payment and comission for the Feature on your blog.

Sorry Alex, i think you're very, very wrong.

In principle that's all fine, but it wouldn't work in practice. at all.

Going BH with adsense will only get you banned. Theres no point in tying to cheat the system. I mean yeah, you can cover it up, but why not just build a loyal reader-base and make even more money without throwing away visitors?

In the long run, you'll make more affiliate sales and more adsense revenue. Doug here hits $15k a month with adsense & affiliate sales, whitehat.

    All the niches you mentioned; there is no way to get a good ranking and easy organic traffic from them. I mean, they'll pay high with adsense, but thats it. You still need traffic. Think about this;

10 clicks at $0.50 a click is $5. But 200 at $0.20 is $40. I'd rather have the second. You will always get more traffic if you're on the first SERP's. you will never get there for diabetes and weightloss. unless you have *MILLIONS* to spend. i doubt you do.

Anson, you'd be better off targetting a micro-niche which you can dominate and drive all the traffic to your site, rather than competing with millions of multi-national companies.

Companies will rarely pay you upfront for a feature on a blog unless it's quite influential. Maybe in 18 months and when you're hitting 5-6 figures of readers a day, then it's common, but when you're starting out it's very rare.

This would be my plan of attack:

1.) keyword rich domain, top level.
2.) wordpress, nice premium theme, get the SEO plugins pack from here.
3.) get some content (outsource/ write your own). Publish *constantly* for 3 weeks. Up to five a day. if yuou can't, just do 1. Try more if possible.
4.) use services like feedburner etc.
5.) monetize with CPM banners and text ads (look around for some more targetted than adsense!)
6.) once your pages have been indexed by major search engines, post those articles in article directories. There are thousands. Bu having them on your page first, if you link to your website, you won't get penalized for dupe content.
7.)once you've got a good reader base, then try putting affiliate products up. This really does depend on the niche though.

Some really hot niches take very well be being presented a sales page, but not so much a blog, however some really cold niches, if you put a product in a blog, they can't get enough of it.

Just give some general products in your niche a try and see what works well.

It's a long, tedious process, but if you get a good niche, you're on the front page of g00gle, have some page rank and a good reader base, you'll be fine.

Thats very interesting, and I have to agree you could be on to something.

But I dont have the know-how when it comes to picking the right niche or anything involving SEO/Indexing, and its easy to say go lok there or go seach this there. I tried searchign the forums for SEO techniques and stuff but the only results I get are junk testimonials and show offs.

I also have problems understand step 6: .) once your pages have been indexed by major search engines, post those articles in article directories. There are thousands. Bu having them on your page first, if you link to your website, you won't get penalized for dupe content.

How do I know when I am gettign indexed, and what do you mean post articles in article directories, you talking about Associated Content/Ezine Articles and etc?

I have allready started a blogger blog just to see how well that goes, posting unique content there. I would appreciate some feedback if I am doing it right:
