my thoughts on the algorithm #2 | Let's debate

Well, I agree with everything but the truth is that for some people ranking in search results is the objective (I do CPA and that's my aim). We know for sure it gives instant results and ultra targeted traffic (since people search for what they are actually looking for and click your video). Real search results views also give higher CTR than recommended views (i tested it).
My advice for vloggers or creators who monetize with adsense is to take advantage of what search results views have to offer and not focus 100% on getting to recommended. Why not do some keyword research for the niche you're doing and try to rank on that specific term? In the meantime your video might also go to recommended since views from search have high CTR and watchtime.

Great insights. I've attempted to create channels solely focused on YT shorts, and most of them seems to have lost initial momentum. Noticed anything similar on your end?

Cheers!
Thankyou! and I haven't actually tried short yet. But I do know YouTube is experimenting with them heavily, so there is going to be lots of fluctuation with the videos getting pushed or not im assuming.

Yes this is 100% true. If you can rank for a keyword to get traffic, then by all means that's amazing. but like I said, these HR views specifically only work for longer videos, so it will exclude many niches. Also, they are expensive, like 13$ per 1k. So if you do have the budget and confident you can rank for a keyword then by all means this is great.

Well, CPA videos usually are 3-4 minutes long, maybe that's why ranking works better for this kind of videos but I don't use these expensive views, there are better alternatives for ranking (i told you what I use in a PM :P ).
If your videos are 10 minutes long or so, better stick to the manual method since views on panels have shit retention, but for 3-5 minute videos you can easily rank with panel views. Initially your retention will be low due to the fake views but once the video starts picking up real traffic your retention will go up (assuming your content is good), that's what happens with my videos. I get 30 seconds retention after I buy the views and after I starts getting organic traffic, after 1 day the retention goes up to 1-2 minutes which is pretty good for a CPA video.
I want to start doing Adsense soon, I will use panel views to boost my videos and I will do a case study. I will only focus on ranking my videos.

Thats awesome bro I'm glad its working well for you. And for me im in a really competitive niche. So my main focus is to get suggested off of similar/larger creators

i think i have tried the same panel and i lost some of the views after few days. :suspicious:

yep XD they work for ranking, but if they get removed then they are a waste of money. Luckily do have refills but even then its still a pain in the arse

Hey guys I hope everything is going well! Today Id like to share some different explanations regarding views and engagement and how it affects your videos within YouTube's algorithm.
1. High retention views are only good for ranking but not getting your videos suggested or recommended.
The reason why this may be true is mainly because YouTube's algorithm is currently focused on user experience. This means that even though these views may give you high watch time hours, none of those views ever engaged with your video, ( liking, commenting, subscribing) which can lead to a bad signal. If you had 1000 people watch your whole video, but no one left a like, comment, subscription, or even clicked onto the next video, would you consider that a bad signal to YouTube's recommendation system? Yes they may be high retention, but what about the impressions, and everything else?

2. Subscriber engagement is everything. You can buy as many views as you want; they can be the best retention in the world, but if none of your actual subscribers engage with your video then that's a terrible signal to YouTube. Why would thousands of random botted views watch your video, but none of your subscribers engage with your video beforehand. It should be the other way around. This is why buying views could possibly put you in a weird spot with your channel if your subscribers don't engage, it makes no sense.

3. We all know CTR and Watch time are basically the biggest metrics for getting ranked and suggested, so couldn't we just easily buy HR views, get tons of watch time hours and then get suggested? Well don't worry guys, i did the scariest part for you. I've tested it and I got results. And honestly, I'm not surprised, nothing happened. Ill provide you some screenshots below!
View attachment 153502View attachment 153501

These results were on a 40 minute video, and you're are probably thinking. "wow these are amazing results. you found a goldmine!" And I assure you I did not.
The reason why these botted HR "YouTube Search Views" are bad for getting your channel recommended is mainly because they don't count as impressions. None of the views engage with your video in anyway except for watching the whole thing then leaving YouTube. (bad signal, YouTube wants people to click onto another video, not click off.) As you can see, after the views were delivered, there was no organic growth after, even if I got so many watch time hours and an insane retention.
I'll say this again guys, High Retention Views are only decent for ranking your videos for keywords. I did rank for keywords using these but they were very low competition.
You can buy HR views to maybe rank and then get organic views from search, but for competitive niches, that's going to cost a lot of money and then again these views can easily drop, which happened after 5 days of being delivered.

This is what I suggest to do for now, since YouTube is on a roll for being very strict. Make good content, thumbnails, titles and description, but also make videos similar to creators in your niche that already have viral videos.
I see many channels that went from 500 subs, getting a 100-400 views per video, then making videos on already successful videos, that blew their channels up to 30k subs within a month. You DONT need to buy views. And as you can see, buying really good High Retention views really did nothing for my video except give me some watch time hours.
A organic and active subscriber base is all you need to succeed on YouTube. so if you are able to rank for keywords with HR views, GREAT! But its going to cost some money and there's no guarantee that the views will stay.

I would really appreciate if you guys could leave your own input and thoughts, as I would really love to see what other people have to say as well! LET'S TALK ABOUT IT!

Hey Thomas!

Juts a few weeks ago I tried such views which included CTR and impression "+" engagements. Those views were HR, and my videos were just 2 minutes long or so.

I spent more than $1000 on the test, The majority of such views subbed to the channel,
then I uploaded a few more videos and asked those sub views to watch the newly uploaded videos too.

The result:

1. I ranked on YouTube for the searched keyword

2. Just 1% or so of views come from suggested now.

Conclusion:

A. YouTube considers the background trace of the viewers to recommend a video like you say I think that it is not the case. I can talk to you privately in that regard if you like).

B. You need to upload more and more videos before you get suggested by YouTube.
Why do you think everything is related to the trace of viewers (While we know it was NOT, in the past when purchased views were working like a charm (I remember 4-5 years ago when I got suggested in one day, 48 hours after injecting 100K views to a video (And YouTube at that time exactly knew where to suggest my videos just after doing so!)))?
How do all other newly established white-hat channels rank naturally these days then?
They need to get some views from YouTube search first, then after doing more and more uploads and getting more subs and authority, they will get recommended by YouTube.

It is strange to me that you want to inject just say a few hundreds of views to one video (Whether the views are CTR or anything) and get suggested!

I think YouTube these days is more about "continuation". How many times have you seen a single video in a new, thin channel gets suggested by YouTube?

Yes I think Subs are very important in making a video rank on YouTube. But again, a thin channel (In terms of uploaded videos) cannot get enough subs, for the job done, and even if it gets, I don't think such subs are the "main" reason of getting suggested (As per my test and other things!). Definitely they help, yes, But I don't believe they are the main reason of getting suggested.

Interesting facts. And yes, SMM panels won't work (maybe only in the hack niche).

Its definatly how the YT algo works.

But for a new channel, i would just recommend 2 things
1. Ranking for low comp keywords
2. Building audience/tribe outside of YT and push to YT

Im experimenting with YT ranking now with vidiq premium, found some good low comp keywords, Do you think i should buy views for these videos.

Yes exactly! And I would only buy views if you sure those views have a high retention and will good you alot of watchtime hours

If the view from the panel is deleted by YouTube its bad for the video or it's not important?

if the botted views are removed then thats it. the watchtime hours gained from the video will drop. thus dropping your ranking

So in reality it's not change lot of thing
I don't think it hurts your channel that much, but just don't buy views on a whitehat niche. It's a waste of money. Even the expensive ones are garbage.
I think you right, no interest to buy bot view essentially for gaming niche, but I'll try it, I'll let my oldest channel clean and I've another old channel and I'll make black magic on this lol

and if the view from impression, suggestion etc has good ctr/retention it's life time boost of recommendation ?

we just need to know when the recommendation stop from youtube , i think they're a minimum ctr and retention time

You cannot know that and nothing is for life :D. YT can recommend you for few days, few weeks, few months.No1 knows for sure.
