my thoughts on the algorithm #2 | Let's debate

Hey guys I hope everything is going well! Today Id like to share some different explanations regarding views and engagement and how it affects your videos within YouTube's algorithm.
1. High retention views are only good for ranking but not getting your videos suggested or recommended.
The reason why this may be true is mainly because YouTube's algorithm is currently focused on user experience. This means that even though these views may give you high watch time hours, none of those views ever engaged with your video, ( liking, commenting, subscribing) which can lead to a bad signal. If you had 1000 people watch your whole video, but no one left a like, comment, subscription, or even clicked onto the next video, would you consider that a bad signal to YouTube's recommendation system? Yes they may be high retention, but what about the impressions, and everything else?

2. Subscriber engagement is everything. You can buy as many views as you want; they can be the best retention in the world, but if none of your actual subscribers engage with your video then that's a terrible signal to YouTube. Why would thousands of random botted views watch your video, but none of your subscribers engage with your video beforehand. It should be the other way around. This is why buying views could possibly put you in a weird spot with your channel if your subscribers don't engage, it makes no sense.

3. We all know CTR and Watch time are basically the biggest metrics for getting ranked and suggested, so couldn't we just easily buy HR views, get tons of watch time hours and then get suggested? Well don't worry guys, i did the scariest part for you. I've tested it and I got results. And honestly, I'm not surprised, nothing happened. Ill provide you some screenshots below!


These results were on a 40 minute video, and you're are probably thinking. "wow these are amazing results. you found a goldmine!" And I assure you I did not.
The reason why these botted HR "YouTube Search Views" are bad for getting your channel recommended is mainly because they don't count as impressions. None of the views engage with your video in anyway except for watching the whole thing then leaving YouTube. (bad signal, YouTube wants people to click onto another video, not click off.) As you can see, after the views were delivered, there was no organic growth after, even if I got so many watch time hours and an insane retention.
I'll say this again guys, High Retention Views are only decent for ranking your videos for keywords. I did rank for keywords using these but they were very low competition.
You can buy HR views to maybe rank and then get organic views from search, but for competitive niches, that's going to cost a lot of money and then again these views can easily drop, which happened after 5 days of being delivered.

This is what I suggest to do for now, since YouTube is on a roll for being very strict. Make good content, thumbnails, titles and description, but also make videos similar to creators in your niche that already have viral videos.
I see many channels that went from 500 subs, getting a 100-400 views per video, then making videos on already successful videos, that blew their channels up to 30k subs within a month. You DONT need to buy views. And as you can see, buying really good High Retention views really did nothing for my video except give me some watch time hours.
A organic and active subscriber base is all you need to succeed on YouTube. so if you are able to rank for keywords with HR views, GREAT! But its going to cost some money and there's no guarantee that the views will stay.

i think you should take in consideration the topic/niche of the video
for example a music video is different from a top 10 one, or sports vs gossip...

Yes the niche of the video is really important as well. But let me say this too, these HR views only work on longer videos. Mainly 20 minutes and above. That excludes many niches. Secondly, a active sub base applies to every niche in terms of getting your videos suggested recommended. shit engagement is shit engagement. Top 10 niches follow the method of Trend Jacking. They copy what's already very popular or whats about to become popular and hopefully explode off of that. The only niche that may benefit off of botted views might be the CPA niche? To rank and hopefully get leads/sales? The majoriy of views on music videos are botted and or come from ads. Many popular music videos are also on youtube channels with an Active subscriber base as well. But other than that this information stands for mainly all niche's give or take

I sympathize. Previously, my video was exposed to recommended videos based on keywords.

But now, it seems that the recommended video is decided based on the viewer's viewing record.

My current thought is to use a bot after manually working on an account with a high viewing time of related videos.

This is it right here! In order for YouTube to suggest your content, they need to know what those viewers past viewing record was to give a clear indicator to see where to suggest/recommend it at. Botted views will have no viewing record within your niche. So YouTube cant suggest your content!

Hmm interesting post. Lemme ask questions based on your points:

1. Which High Retention Views service did you buy? And how much retention did you even get out of this in mins per view (based on length)?

2. I heard about the "channel authority" sort of thing. I've seen channels with 1M real subs get like 5k views just sit and die. Yea it seems like inactive subs carry a lot of "DEADWEIGHT". This is probably why Youtube promotes channels with high subscription watch rates. Although I've seen a lot of channels with ~15-25% of their viewers coming from subs. Although if it's organic, it would still generate impressions.

3. Wow interesting results you got. Where did you buy those SEO Youtube Search Views from? Which service did you use? Seriously 36 min views EACH? That's A LOT of retention for a long video. I haven't found a Youtube-SEO service (besides the one that's really expensive we talked about).

Overall, I do get where you're coming from and yes you should always make great content/thumbnails/titles/etc. However, as a creator myself, not all "good content" gets recognized. I remember slapping on 3 pieces of clips onto a video and getting several views + impressions + click-throughs yet another video where I worked days on it hardly got anything. I think when it comes to SMM views, what we really look for is what would generate more "exposure" so it would reach out to more audience within your branch.

Also, didn't you write a post about making your own click-through bot or something? Not sure if that was you.

1. I cant name the exact panel because I don't want to get my cheeks clapped by BassTrackerBoats XD. But I can say they were categorized as "YouTube Seo Views, [Keyword Search Promotion] I got about 35 minutes retention per views on a 40 minute video. Near perfect.

2. Yes exactly, subscriber engagements are crucial for getting suggested. It doesn't even have to be a huge percentage. If you have engaging subscribers, that alone will do you well on YouTube.

3. As I said before I cant mention the panel, or my cheeks would get clapped by one of the moderators here. But their panel is in the Marketplace.

And I agree with this, but its almost 2021 now. YouTube clearly stated their algorithm is focused on user experience. Botted views will have no previous watch history within your niche, therefor YouTube has no where to suggest it to. This is why views will simply not work for suggesting your content. HR views will only help with ranking basically.
And to clarify, I've been doing tests with subscriber engagements, and on the first day of my upload, my video is getting recommend by YouTube with a whopping 80%. Active Subscribers are everything.

The only views I could see that would help with getting recommended were those Niche Related Views, as those has some sort of watch history based on your niche, giving YouTube enough data to know where to suggest your content.

It seems to be related to the current US presidential election.

I have already tested this. The current keyword ranking was made. I made rankings through microwalkers and boosted them with my bot.
However, I recommend my video from the video that the micro worker works on.

they are all good way to rank. but ranking boils down to which video has a better CTR, Relevancy and Watch time hours. SO if you can use views that provide you great watch time hours and retention, then yes, but you still need a good thumbnail, and title to have good CTR.

2. This is why many people start new channels when they change topics.

So when you did the several accounts test for clicking through manually, how did you do it exactly? Which proxies did you use so that Google would not recognize all accounts as belonging to each person?

Yea Niche related views were amazing but they were shortlived because no panels are sophisticated enough to provide these.

You used Microworkers and it worked? How does that work? What sort of things do you get the microworkers to do? How do they watch the video? Via direct link?

Don't you need human-quality proxies to do that? So that Google won't recognize that it's the same person using 100 accounts doing this?

I can confirm that as well. I tried the same HR views that Russ tried and most of the views disappeared after 3 or 4 days. SMM panels are just a waste of time at this point.

I have repeatedly written that buying from SMM view panels is a waste of money. But I want to note that it doesn't work this way when you buy 5 thousand views and they are executed in one day. The process of getting to the home page (the fastest way to get a lot of views) can take a long time. From a few months to six months or even a year.

Yup exactly!

YouTube videos can also be expanded to recommended videos if you make several connections.
What I'm talking about is simply the change to view. Right now, you can't make a lot with views alone.
CTR. Watch duration is a very important indicator. But the work doesn't end with those two.
