My spare time!!!

My wife and I started a small non profit in our spare time through Facebook Marketing. Here we are passing out school supplies to some less fortunate families in the Dominican Republic yesterday! Some of these kids do not go to school because their families can't afford to buy school supplies. We gave 25 children backpacks, pens, pencils, markers, scissors, glue, pencil sharpeners, and notebooks.

Congratulations on your new endeavor. I am sure it is fulfilling to change people's lives.

I am interested in doing similiar thing in the future. Just curious, how do you managed to find those types of children in Dominican Republic. I guess I am interested more in terms how did you start non profit and managed to help other people your "spare time".

In a nutshell we incorporated are name, started marketing on Fb for help/donations and then we bought the school supplies and handed them out. Finding children in need in the DR is easy. I am in the process of building the website and then I will do a little BHW magic on it and hopefully push it a little further. Will see what happens.

Cool stuff. It seems pretty straightforward. Did you incorporate as a seperate entity from your main company or is it part of your company (assuming that you are in USA)? Sorry for asking so much. I am going to be starting non profit in the upcoming months so I find it intereseting how you did it.

Yes, as a separate entity of my main company but my main company gives donations to the non-profit every-time someone buys from us. It is working out pretty well so far. The goal is to be able to have monthly donations across the country with people wanting to come help volunteer their time in different months. Last month we rewired a house. A electrician and his crew came down here and actually ran correct wiring. A lot of houses are just a mangled mess and very unsafe. Anyways, my wife and I enjoy it!
