Hello everyone and sorry if this post in wrong section. Im a noob to this site and having read around a while my head is going to explode!! So much information. My help needed is this - I have 2 sites both page 1 on Google, one position 4 and the other position 10. No matter how hard I try to move them up nothing works. I use squidoo for backlinking mainly but even if I add new content, they just stay in the same positions. Is there anything I can do or should I just resign to the fact that is where they will stay?

Try approaching it from a few different angles instead of just using squidoo. Throw in some high PR blog comments, some social signals from social sites, some contextual web2's. Diversity is key and sometimes just one or two different approaches and angles is enough to see some extra movement.

Also mix up your keywords a little. If you're constantly just pushing your main keywords then chuck in some extra long tails or other relevant keywords (search for keyword ideas with googles keyword tool), as this will look more natural in the eyes of the search engines. Just constantly battering those keywords you're currently ranking for will harm you in the long run.
