my sites hacked and Google manual action

I have 3 domains all sitting on hosting.
Until a few months ago they were al active wordpress blogs.

I decided to concentrate on just one blog, deleted content on the other 2 and redirected to my one remaining blog.

It turns out the non-active ones were hacked and dodgy software put on them and a ton of spammylinks.
I got a google action against me and told me the site was hacked and dodgy software uploaded to it.

I have a feeling its to do with my super cheap hosting.

Anyone heard of this happening before? Is it likely?

I can see in my logs files people downloading stuff, but not sure how to find the original uploaders IP, though I'm sure it will be cloaked anyway.

I give up, its one thing after the other, I need to take a break and start totally fresh with new everything, even new name, new hosting, new domains etc. think I've made some enemies on the way here.

Wordpress websites get hacked daily, update your security, or get on a better hosting account or both.

ok, how about ovh? its 3.5$ vps is awesome in all aspects and price is low as for vps.
