Hey guys,

So I posted my first 3 articles to my 1 month old site and made sure I did not keyword stuff and I also put YouTube videos and images on the site. I ignored the meta description and meta title for all- in- one SEO plugin so that I do not get keyword inflation. But after 4 weeks now the articles have not shown in the serps.

I dont know what is going on? I was advised to not send back links until the site shows in serps. Is there anything I am doing wrong? They keyword ratio is not higher than 2% and the competition for the keywords are medium at most.

So, your site is 1 month old, you have only 3 articles and you didn't even do meta description....and you're surprised you're not ranking?
Also, I see you're talking about competition, but I guess you think about competition from Google keyword planner, right?

Do a query "Site:mydomain" on google and see if you have any pages indexed. If you don't have any pages indexed, then either google has not been able to find your website or you have been penalized. If you have some pages indexed but not the article you wrote, check your sitemap.xml file to see if it has a link to the new article.

If you have not already, setup Google Webmasters Tool for your site and submit the sitemap there.

Make a facebook page for your site and include the link in description it should be visible in the fanpage and a couple of scoial bookmarks would suffice. BTW Google knows whenever a new site is there - as Aaron Wall says. Keep doing normal SEO and it will start popping up in long tailed searches if you aren't using shite content on ur site. all the best. :toilet:

Get some links from major social networks, like Facebook, Google + and Twitter. That will get you indexed. If not, you've got a bad domain. Check the incoming links. Maybe it was used before you bought it?

No. Not competition for ad words. I analysed the top 10 and saw the competition was easy. The only reason I didn't fill in the meta description is because I read that it will inflate my keywords.

You mean your site in not indexed on google?

I just realized that my articles have not been even indexed. Wow! I wonder what I did wrong? I signed up with Google webmaster and analytics etc. I sent my sitemap and it should be indexed but when I do the site: mysite.com , all I see is my main site but none of the articles.

I have 0 links to my site. I checked.

What all did you look at, in order to determine that your "competition was easy"?

PhpBuilt has a great series on website optimization you can find here... I recommend you read through it all. It sounds like you are over optimized.

You don't starting sending backlinks to the site before it is indexed but once it is indexed you are in the clear
to start building some web 2.0 backlinks to your website and at that point you can see your SERP movement
improve. Despite was seomoz and Matt Cutts says you need backlinks in 2014 to rank period.

I saw an adsense niche site in the top three.

I saw a facebook page with little likes if that helps.

I also checked the backlinks for the top 3 and it was pretty weak. Most where links that I can also get.

I don't think I am over optimized buddy. I made sure of that. Here is an image of one of my images.

Yeah. I was waiting for my site to index somewhere in the serps before I start. Which led me to wonder why I was not showing up for such a long time. Most of my sites show in the serps within 1 week. But this one is almost 1 month now.

Easy way to know you're indexed is to type site: your site name and then see if it shows up.

Your website is 1 month old and still not get indexed? If that the case then I guess something has gone seriously wrong. Maybe you're being penalized somehow?

So I resubmitted my sitemap and I am indexed. This is very weird. I will wait a week and see if I show up in the serps.
