Hello,

One of my forums on shared hosting is showing 36000 users online on shared hosting

and they are everywhere in all sections of forum and not just index page

When i told hostgator they said it could be google bot

On whos among us the visitors are 250

I have put a special script in htaccess to disallow copying bots to stay out of site but the number still not going down.

Hostgator said you can put a robots.txt to disallow all bots but the point is if it is Google I don't mind.

What do you say ?

I've never experienced anything like it, i had a quick look on your forum and really the only thing i can think of would be a bot or some sort of script error.

Take a look at your server/host provided traffic/usage logs if you can. If you see an abnormal spike (which this is I take it?), then you know that's somethings up. Check the visitor IP's and if possible user agents, and see where the IP routes to.

If there's no spike evident, then it's most likely a code error.

Not found any reason for this but looked like overload problem thats why the stats were not updating properly

Meaby many Xr users are trying to register / scan / post ?
