Ok I got a SEO job a week back... 2 more people are working with me, both of them more experienced than Iam, both getting paid more than what Iam being paid... here goes the ironic part

1) Competition Analysis ( Their Method ) - Search for a keyword, if the total number of results shown by google is too big then the competition is fierce O_o

2) According to them, Blog commenting is useless

3) The Competition Bar shown in the Adword Keyword Tools tells about the SERP competition O_o

4) Continously submitting on digg gives powerful backlinks

and Many more....

Anyways, I am working on my own and am able to rank the company for two tough keywords within a week, #7 and #4 respectively..

What I did?

Created manual web2.0 properties interlinked structure, bookmarked, then reverse engineered the backlinks of various websites(including their competitors ) and gathered a list of over 14000 urls(all high PR) , just going through all of them and managed to find many d0follow blogs/forum posts/guestbooks where I posted links.

and the results are amazing...

Feeling bad cz those people are doing nothing and still getting paid more than what iam being paid... anyways.. in the process iam leaving backlinks for my own sites as well :D

P.S. - They have no idea what traffic travis, seo spyglass, the best spinner, scrapebox, xrumer is.. for god's sake they dont even know what spinning is O_o

would like 2 see some reactions here

Leave the job and start doing seo for your own sites?

got married a month back, job isnt challenging for me, iam doing seo for them as well as for my own sites... just feeling bad to see the knowledge level of seo execs working in companies.... never gonna give my site to any of these companies for seo

Pretty typical in the SEO business. I would say that most people/companies that offer SEO services have no idea what they are doing. I just brought on a client that has had 6 SEO companies before me. Dude calls me every day asking how things are going, which doesn't surprise me with all the crap SEO companies he has been duped by.

If I where you I would just keep plugging away and then simply have a talk with the owner of the company. Try to explain to them how to properly implement SEO and why the other guys are taking him for a ride. Be professional about it of course.

Ya iam waiting for some results, so far the progress is going good... and moreover its gonna go in my work portfolio so the job is a breeze for me, using scrapebox and amr on my xsserver vps while those guys are busy with Digg :p ... but on a serious note, yes , this is sad

I'm sure that once your boss sees the results that you are bringing in you will be in charge of those two clowns in no time.

Yes i am doing the same thing as your colleagues just bookmarking and article submission.

It really is interesting to see how things are done in the real world.

I know what your feeling! I sold few SB and profile blasts to fellow SEO enthusiasts... After i send them link lists.. "hey, why did you send us crap link list? you said your going to do blog links for us?".... They havent never heard of miricle pros of blog links and other not-so-white-hathish-methods.

They complained and wanted their money back eventough i got their sites from page 2 #19 to page 1 #4 with single blast haha...

I hate it when people who say they know everything fail miserably... and their ego is so buff'd that hey dont see their erros, they are gods lol

EDIT: they tought that they would receive 5k links in 5k blogs and their link would be in their footer... same with forums. :D FOOLS!

@ OP
Howie would be proud!

And THE REST OF US would be proud if you still maintain control of
all the properties you built for the companie's SEO - in case they
decide to screw you haha.

Of course - I hope you did them all from their location so that
you don't wear out your own home IP on those properties.

Best

PS. I think you should send the company a note:

Dear Boss.

What is more important to you:

"Experience" or "Competency-based results"?
See - I have two others working with me and getting paid more
and
they are not able to do half the things that I have done for you.

Regrettably, they are also not receptive to learning how to do
what I do and have even told me that my methods don't work
...despite outranking them for 2 high-competition keywords
which they would not even attempt ... and I did it in a (day/week/month).

I don't mind doing someone else's job - but not when they are paid
more than I am to not do their job. lol Just a thought.

honestly, don't you feel frustrated and trapped.
but then its the necessity of the moment for you to be in that job.(not taunting).just saying that i can feel it.

OP, if your job covers health insurance and the rest of the usual benefits you are in a great position. You can work on your sites too, like you do, and get paid. If you are not pursuing a career in that company, my advice is to keep quiet, get the results expected from you and work for yourself for the rest of the day.

If you manage to impress the boss, you'll end up with 20% more money and 200% bigger workload. Speaking of which, maybe your colleagues are doing the same thing already and watch with amusement how the new guy is digging his own grave :)

Most of my clients have been burned by their previous 1-3 SEO companies...

90% of SEO firms are BS. Cheers to those of us who know what we are doing. :)

@OP: I would get some clients under your belt in your off time and when you have a stable flow just leave and start up you own firm and let that firm burn into the ground. lol

Just wondering, what kind of salary do 'seo guys' fetch in Indian firms, if you don't mind sharing?

Thats is not just for SEO, you know probably the owners are pretty good but the people that work for them cant be that good. Otherwise they will have their own companies.

This is considered the same for other niches.

Regards

Most of those companies outsource all the SEO from forums like BHW, WF & Freelancer.

People pay alot of $$$$ for getting their sites rank(Direct clients). Those SEO companies pays little $$$ & get their client's site ranked.

This is how it works.
