There's a lot of folks here that have followed the google maps cash system. A lot of you own scrape box too. Well, here is how I put the 2 together and got myself to number 1 in google maps.

First of all, people make a huge mistake by doing their google listing before they work on citations and whatnot. I, on the other hand have found it makes sense to do it backwards. I get my citations and then do my maps listing. See, when you do a maps listing google spiders the internet looking for references (citations) to your business. It looks way more legit to the maps ranking algorithm if they find something about you immediately. I am convinced it gives you way more credibility.

Here is what I do using scrapebox to get my business name around the web (so google finds it) aside from doing the normal citations. I scrape keywords related to my business, load my url's, and then I make generic comments containing my business name, address and phone number. No links to my site. These stick super easy since there is no link to get you banned in askimet.

    Guess what!

Several of these comments I made a few months ago now show up in google as "reviews". So I know they are finding them. Plus, when I did it backwards like this I showed up in maps within a couple days.

So, in a nutshell: Do citations first, do a few scrapebox blasts, then do the maps listing.

This has been pretty effective for me on a few different "businesses". I probably shouldn't have posted it since it will get saturated. But, oh well. Merry Christmas!!:D

i don't put anything in the website field. that's why the comments stick like glue. and apparently google considers these citations and reviews because my comments are showing up both under the reviews section on the google place page and under the "more about this place" section.

an example comment would be something generic like: "love the blog. very interesting.........yada yada. sincerly, joe blow, joe blow enterprises, 123 main st, Beverly hills, ca 90210 999-999-9999

That is a marvelous idea that actually works. What happens if you promote a website on some "xyz" address? Will they find out quickly?

Sounds interesting, thanks. I have always created citations first before creating a GP listing... you're right... that only makes good sense and have always had faster success doing it that way.

I will try the SB idea... sounds good.

Plus rep for the OP - awesome information. Thanks for the share! Are any of the SB posts also showing up as citations on your Places listing or just reviews? I wonder if you were able to get some of those posts to stick with a URL if they would also show up as a citation.

How long do you wait to create the places listing after doing SB blasts?

Yes bartman you are correct. Basically to put it into simple words citations are like backlinks to google maps. :)

This is a very good method angelas. If you do a little blackhat way , since you are saying the comments show up as reviews, you can post negative comments about your competitor so that they will show up as reviews ;) . This is a little too blackhat and on the wrong side too. Its left to your conscience to decide. :)

they only show up as reviews if the page title of the blog you are commenting on has "review" somewhere in it. they show up as citations otherwise. now keep in mind i did thousands of these for just a handful to show up later (months).

So it took you thousands of comments to get a handful of citations and reviews? Just trying to get an idea of how many I should blast out to help me rank and not look spammy.

i would say about 5000. reviews you should still do manually on other sites. i had no idea google would pick up my comments as reviews. had i known that i would have made different comments. but anyway it really seemed to help me move up the rankings. i don't think you can do too many unlike backlinks.

and if anyone needs google maps cash, send me a pm and i will give you a very private link of where to download it.

Citation are any where your details appear: NOTE they have to be the same as you have in your google places listing for them to be counted. So unlike article marketing where you get done for dupe content, in google places dupe content it is a good thing, when I say dupe content I mean having your company details cited all over the web.

eg. if you have in your places listing

    Joe's Plumber
    1234 Nowhere Rd
    Nowhere, STATE, ZIP
    Phone / Fax

Then each citation has to have the same details, otherwise it may not get picked up.

    :)

Damn, I'm currently experimenting with a similar method. I wondered what would happen if I built up citations before I listed in G Places. Your OP answers that question! I'm not using scrapebox or using blog posts though.

Excellent twist. If I had any rep to give, I certainly would give you some. :)

Edit: It seems that now I can give rep. Yay! rep given.
