I love Twitter, I love the platform and what it represents, quick updates with little bullshit. The problem is I never know what to say, I own an authority gaming site and I want to get more into Twitter so I can grow my network and not fall behind on the times. What do you guys do for Twitter?I hate just posting my new blog posts on Twitter.

I think there are two concepts to keep in mind when posting content to twitter; the first is that "content is king" (who would have thought?). The second concept is the difficult part; "less is more." It's an unbelievably difficult challenge to create / say something that is truly great, grabs the viewer's attention, and does so with few words. Although the majority of users on twitter don't really abide by this, it's crucial for effectively using twitter.

So to answer your question; you said you have an "authority" (which I hope means that it's quality) gaming site. Each time you add content to your site, put yourself in the perspective of one of your readers. Based on the actual content; how would YOU have your curiosity piqued to click through one of your tweets? Your tweet should be engaging and clear, yet leaves the user with a question they might need answered. That burning question would be the motivation for the click-through.

Im struggling with twitter too. I think my followers don't even know what English is. lol that is what it feels like. No matter what I twit almost never ever a Reaction. How do you actually build quality good followers if nobody ever re-tweet or anything like that ? Drives me Crazy!!! I have almost 2000 followers and am only following 110 people and my account is about 2 years old. Feels like I still don't know what the hell to say to get some attention. At-least my facebook friends is much more responsive. so I feel for you OP. It is not easy to know what to say.

How many people you are following should not affect twitter interaction as Tweets are equally visible in everyone's timeline. So, The problem can be, if you have outsourced ur followers from anywhere in the world, then be sure, your goal and the goal of the twitterers following you are same. You shouldn't just expect any interaction then.

Interact with people and build relationships. Don't just tweet business things. It looks spammy and no one pays attention. I mix it up. I respond to other people's tweets, retweet what catches my eye, say some personal things, and throw some business tweets in.

Spend a couple of minutes to read what's in your feed and talk to people. Respond to some things that catch your eye. If someone just had a car accident, ask them if they are okay. If you were in a room with 2,000 people, would you stand in a corner and talk to yourself or would you mingle and chat? Be friendly and sociable and before you know it, you will have a lively twitter experience.

This. Exactly.

If people follow you, then they want to see info related to why they followed you in the first place. If it's a gaming site, you can do reviews on games and post aff links for the buy now pages of those games.

As someone said before "content is king"... nobody cares what you had for lunch... tweet stuff people want to retweet or find interesting... blasting everyhour how your company is so great to 20 followers is not going to work... if you have a business service, make a twitter account with success quotes etc.. then once a day you can blast a business link to your company.. hope this helps...
