Hello everybody,
Here is my PPD method. It's not new, but here are some of my thoughts and twists on it. I'm not currently doing PPD (moved to other projects), but I created this project a few months back, and it's constantly making me $1-2/day. I know $1-2/day is nothing, but it's definitely scalable, and I'm doing this only from 1 PPD project on complete autopilot.
1. Make a keyword research. Look for desperate "How to..." questions. Ideally you would want a keyword that has around 10k searches in Google, and the possibility to be also searched in YouTube. (Mine keyword got 12k searches in Google, and 7k searches in YT - this is a perfect one, if you can find such). Don't forget to scrape some additional keywords, that are related.
2. Create an info product of 15-25 pages. You can also buy one with give away rights, but I prefer to write it on my own, so I can include tons of affiliate links in it. If you are lazy about this, just get a ready made ebook that will cost you $5-10, but make sure you have the right to give it away. If you have the right to edit it, you might also want to include additional affiliate links.
If you are writing the book yourself and the topic is easy, give away some good content that will actually help people. I got myself got some real testimonials from people who said my info product really helped them!
Even if your english is not good, this is not a problem. People have a PROBLEM, and you are there to help them with your ebook. Nobody will care whether your English is good or not
3. Get a cheap $1 .com or .net domain - get as close to your keyword as possible, if EMD is available - get it. Otherwise use your-exact-keyword.com or yourexactkeyword123.com
4. Create an animated video (these whiteboard videos). Make sure you invest some time in it, and make it good. Don't pay for that because you will be heavily charged, instead make it yourself. In the video just advertise your product, and say that you are giving it away for free (ONLY FOR A VERY LIMITED TIME!), so you can get people's opinion, and very soon you will be charging for it. You might want to mention in your video that there is a short survey that needs to be filled, as you have server costs.
Make sure there is constant change/movement in your video. This way your prospects will watch the video for longer. Otherwise it will be boring and they wont watch it.
5. Since you will be only advertising, you want your video to be around 1:30 long, or shorter. Personally I also purchased a voice over from a fiverr guy, so it really sounds professional.
6. Create your website, and use wordpress if you are a noobie. Make it absolute clear (using CTA elements - arrows, pointers, etc.) that prospects have to click the DOWNLOAD button. When the download widget loads, explain them that it is 100% free, but you have server costs that wont pay itself. Also you can include a poll right under the download button (this will boost your conversions for sure):
"Does this file work?" then make sure it always shows a possitive (in case its a real poll, otherwise you can just put in a screenshot of a possitive poll, haha). Another trick to boost conversions is to say "If this file is broken or doesn't work for some reason, please email me immediately at [email protected] so I can fix it"
In order to boost the conversions even further, you might share 1-2-3 pages of your ebook publicly on the website. This will show your visitors that there is really a book, which will help them with whatever problem they are facing. If the content in the publicly shared ebook is good, this will make them want your ebook, which again... will further boost your conversions. Don't forget that thanks to all our "colleges" who are offering fake files, the PPD industry is going down, and people are less and less likely to trust anything that needs a survey to obtain. Make something about it.
You can also include a 500-700 words article on the subject in the footer of your website, and this MIGHT return in more visitors coming from long tail keywords. If that's the case, don't forget that these visitors coming from the search engines, have NOT watched your video, so make sure it's 100% clear what they are doing on this website (Just include a big headline, offering the greatest "How to...something" ebook)
7. Upload and rank the video in both Google and Youtube. If you don't know how to do that, go search the forum. This have been shared gazillion times already. Obviously link back to your website in the first line of your video description. It would be also good to mention your website in the video itself, so other people can't steal your video right away.
8. *OPTIONAL* Create a web2.0 blog and rank it with spammy links for your keyword. In this web 2.0 only promote your website. This will also return in good conversions, as people are already referred by someone.
Basically this is it. I have 1 project currently going on. My video is ranking #3-5 in youtube, and #3 in Google (Yeah, ranking is not even perfect). It's constantly giving me $1-2/day, and it was doing this for 3+ months already. If you can product 1 of these projects per day, in 30 days you will be doing $30-60/day - this is how you scale it.
My costs:
Domain: $1
Hosting: I already had one, but for the sake of this, let's say $3/m
Fiverr voice over: $5
Youtube ranking: ~$10
Google ranking: ~$15
(Don't ask me which services I used, I don't remember it was a while ago!)
Earnings so far: $139 in a about ~110 days.
Once again, this is not a big earner, but other "How to..." niches might be much more profitable than this. Also don't forget that my rankings are not perfect. If I rank #1 for both YT and G, I bet it will be making $5-10/day.
