Yes, it's back to the old feedback topic.
Ebay really needs to listen to my next fix for their systems.
The feedback system is flawed. If feedbacks didn't matter, then I wouldn't care and fuss about
my rating being 98% or 99% because in almost anything in life, that kind of percentage would be considered EXEMPLARY and FLAWLESS. But only in ebay do they consider 98% a bad feedback score and sellers are in the danger zone when they dip below 99%. RIDICULOUS.
The problem is this, for every 100 sales, maybe about 30 buyers will leave positive feedback. 70 buyers will not leave any feedback (for reasons nobody knows). Now multiply that over 1 year, 2 years etc....that's like 1000 positive feedbacks or more that you've been robbed of or neglected of that you should have because if nothing is wrong the sale and the buyer doesn't have any problems, never complains, or messages you but they don't leave positive feedback, that's just robbery for good honest sellers who need every feedback possible to stay above 99%.
That means I could make perfects sales for 12 months and 1 or 2 people decide to leave a negative and that puts small time sellers like me in the risk zone. RISK ZONE?
So here's my proposal and it makes total sense to do this. Since feedbacks are VOLUNTARY and we don't want to hassle and bother the buyer constantly reminding them to leave positive feedback (I hate doing that so I don't), the system should be the same as a CASE SYSTEM.
When a buyer opens up a case and does not reply or update the case after 30 days, ebay will automatically close the case in favor of the seller. They assume that if the buyer doesn't respond or follow up on a case they opened within 30 days, then the issue must be resolved and the case is automatically closed by ebay in favor of the seller. That's wonderful.
So if a buyer doesn't leave any feedback within 90 days even (that's plenty of time to allow for shipping to arrive), then automatic positive feedback should be given to the seller. The buyer doesn't have any problems, any issues, no complaints, no messages....that means it's a GOOD THING. But we sellers do not get credited for 70% of our good sales. We are missing out on a MASSIVE CHUNK of our good sales because buyers just don't want to or bother to leave any feedback (too lazy, too time consuming with DSRs or just forgetful, even innocent/ignorant). So a transaction that has been completed and no problems reported and no feedback left after 90 days, why not just make it +1 feedback for the seller? It's not like we are scamming positive feedbacks. We made the sale. We deserve to get credit for it even if the buyer didn't leave any. I don't buy this, "buyer wasn't happy enough to want to leave positive feedback and not upset enough to want to leave negative so they choose not to leave any feedback as if it's some kind of a passive aggressive act they are taking on the seller"....that's really stretching it. I bet 99.9% of buyer who didn't leave positive feedback and never had any problems with the sale, just don't want to bother to leave feedback or totally forgets about it. It has nothing to do with, "the sale wasn't super duper enough to compel them to leave positive"....no, even if a sale wasn't super duper but just fine...a fine sale is still a successful sale and should count.
I get about 2 - 3 negatives per year out of 1000 sales each year. But out of those 1000 sales, I only get 25% or even less buyers leaving positive feedback which means I'm only getting about 250 positive feedback per year. Minus the 3 negatives I get per year, thats 247/250 score which leaves me at a 98.8% rating....not good enough. But if every transaction got recorded as successful sale/positive, then my score would be 997 / 1000 and that gives me a 99.7% rating which is accurate.
