Nice share. We are doing it the same way here :)
We also add pinging and rss submissions for the web 2.0 blog posts and article directories and it rocks :D

Also wanted to ask this. What is you ranking status after current google update?
[i stopped building links after last EMD update, and only focused on on page optimization, from today will focus on offsite]
 
Using something similar but will try this on one of my niches and post results
 
The difference is now, that your web 2.0 will need to look real.

No spun crap and more regular updates of your web 2.0 properties.

As for "articles websites", they don't work anywhere near as well any more.
 
For those that are relatively new to SEO, could could someone explain or dispel the few posts I've read that say any sort of link pyramiding method like this no longer works?

And if that is the case, could someone point me in the direction of what people interested in SEO should now be concentrating on.

Yes this still working great with a little twist.
1) target LSI keywords and generic keywords with your targeted keywords
2) build generic text backlinks to your tier1 backlinks

9. One keyword will go to first 12 web 2.0 links and other keyword will go 12 article links.

10. Now post 13 spun articles in 13 articles websites. [For this you should use auto-approve articles]

Here for one keyword give backlinks to 13 web 2.0 and for other keyword give backlinks to main website

11. Now give bookmark to all web 2.0 + article links. [minimum 10-15 bookmarks to each link.]

12. Now give status update backlinks to each web 2.0 + article backlinks.

You can download the list fro member download. List

13. Just wait for 2 days, you can see huge serp increase for respective keyword

14. Now repeat this process as per your keyword competition.

Good effort, newbies can make use of these valid points
 
If you wanna save some time, I'd suggest using WordAI to autospin to around 40% uniqueness and then doing the rest manually.
